Inizieremo l'avventura con un facile pick-up in centro a Reykjavík. Poi è diretto a est verso la leggendaria costa meridionale dell'Islanda, dove ti aspettano panorami mozzafiato e momenti indimenticabili.
Skógafoss è una delle cascate più belle d'Islanda, rinomata per la sua maestosa larghezza di 25 metri e il dislivello di 60 metri. Il Sólheimajökull è una lingua glaciale, una propaggine del corpo principale del ghiacciaio Mýrdalsjökull. Camminiamo verso Sólheimajökull, attraverso la valle che ha scavato nel paesaggio montano e lungo il fiume ghiacciaio che forma alla sua base. La valle è un insieme caotico di rocce, ghiaia e sabbia che la lingua ha frantumato mentre passava sulla terraferma. Il ghiacciaio è diverso dagli altri in quanto è striato da strati di cenere schiacciati tra strati stagionali di ghiaccio, ma il ghiacciaio è circondato da più stazioni vulcaniche attive. Reynisfjara, o la spiaggia di sabbia nera, è davvero una meraviglia naturale. Il sito offre bellissime colonne di basalto, un arco naturale visto da lontano, faraglioni marini simili a troll e durante la stagione estiva ci sono migliaia di pulcinelle che fanno delle scogliere della spiaggia di sabbia nera la loro casa. Una breve sosta fotografica al villaggio fotogenico di Vík. Ci fermiamo alla chiesa della città dove le pile di basalto simili a troll e il villaggio forniscono lo sfondo perfetto per un selfie. Sulla via del ritorno in città, ascolta le storie di tutti i troll nelle rocce e degli elfi prima di tornare a Reykjavik intorno alle 18:00.
Seljalandsfoss è una delle cascate più rinomate d'Islanda, celebrata per il suo percorso unico che consente ai visitatori di camminare dietro l'acqua a cascata: preparati a bagnarti un po'! Con un dislivello di 65 metri, la cascata fa parte del fiume Seljalandsá, che nasce dal ghiacciaio Eyjafjallajökull. The timings at each stop were perfect, the scenery and the stops absolutely stunning and our guide, Magnus Dan was excellent. He immediately made us feel relaxed and as well as the information you would expect we could ask Magnus any questions, most he could answer immediately and if he couldn't he'd look it up at the next stop. We would highly recommend this tour
The pickup for the tour was within 3 blocks of our hotel, FossHotel, Reykjavik. The driver arrived within the 30 minute expected window. We were the last pickup and were seated on the last seat in the small bus. We could hear the driver/guide without any problem.. The drive to the south coast took over an hour and after a brief rest stop, we started the tour. There was adequate time at each location to see each area and to get good photographs. The pathways were stone in most of the areas and hiking shoes were helpful to have rather than athletic shoes for the added traction. There is a stop for lunch at the black sand beach location. The food here, like everywhere in Iceland, is eye-watering expensive. Adjacent to the restaurant is a food wagon available that was serving pylsars if you are on a budget or just want to try one. We thought that the tour was a good value compared to other offerings for this trip. Your Day Tours/Arctic Adventures had great communication with us for any issues. I would recommend this tour operator for this or similar excursions.
My family had such a wonderful tour of the south coast. The scenic drive was amazing and picturesque. We enjoyed the beauty of the 2 waterfalls and the amazing landscape. The view of the glacier tongue was awesome and the rock formation at the black sand sea is such a wonder to behold.
It was excellently organised and our guide, Vlad, was superb (and witty). We really saw a lot and learned a lot, too. Highly recommend. Blue Lagoon was divine!
This is a great tour of the beautiful South Coast, but the quality of the tour really depends on the tour leader you are with. Unfortunately ours spoke very little - he was very nice, but there weren't really any stories, history and so on. It was disappointing to have such little context for each stop along the way as we looked forward to hearing "...the stories about all the trolls in the rocks and the elves" as advertised. In general, I would recommend touring the South Coast very highly, but not with this guide/tour company.
I had an excellent experience on the South Coast day bus tour. The itinerary was well organized, and the timing at each stop allowed enough opportunity to enjoy the attractions without feeling rushed. Skógafoss Waterfall: Skógafoss was breathtaking. The sheer size and power of the waterfall, combined with the mist and occasional rainbow, made it one of the highlights of the trip. The surrounding scenery was spectacular, and the walking paths provided great viewpoints. Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach: Reynisfjara was unlike any beach I have visited. The black volcanic sand, basalt columns, and dramatic sea stacks created an unforgettable landscape. The guide’s safety briefing about the powerful sneaker waves was very helpful and appreciated. Sólheimajökull Glacier: Visiting Sólheimajökull Glacier was a unique experience. Seeing the glacier up close and learning about its formation and the effects of climate change made the stop both beautiful and educational. The short walk to the glacier was well worth it. Seljalandsfoss Waterfall: Seljalandsfoss was another incredible destination. Being able to walk behind the waterfall offered a completely different perspective and made for memorable photos. It was a perfect way to end the tour. Overall, the bus was comfortable, the driver was professional, and the guide was knowledgeable, friendly, and informative throughout the journey. The tour was well paced, with beautiful scenery during the drive and excellent commentary about Iceland’s history, geology, and culture. I highly recommend this South Coast day tour to anyone visiting Iceland. It is an outstanding way to experience some of the country’s most iconic natural attractions in a single day.
It was absolutely gorgeous!!! If you’re not renting a car for travel, this is the best way to see the south coast in a day! If you would like to spend more time, you’ll need to do it on your own! The driver and guide, Edgar was great too!
Fantastic day seeing so many amazing sites. Our driver, Bruno, was the best! We highly recommend this tour.
South Coast Tour was filled with beautiful sites and changing landscapes. Our guide and driver, Sergio, was so informative and shared a lot of Icelandic history. This was great because the drive to get to the coast was slightly more than and hour and half both ways. We experienced a wide variety of weather! Dress in layers and have waterproof jackets because of weather and to more fully experience the waterfalls. Our lunch stop was quite small and very crowded. Plan accordingly and bring lunch and/or snacks.
Weather was not the greatest. Despite no sunshine the sites were still beautiful. Plenty of time to enjoy each without feeling rushed. The ride was comfortable. Our driver/guide Dominiqua was great. Very nice and knowledgeable.
