Perugia, la capitale regionale, è un'antica città situata nell'Umbria centro-settentrionale. Il centro storico è costruito sulle alte colline lungo la riva destra del fiume Tevere. Ci incontreremo e inizieremo il nostro tour a piedi di Perugia esplorando le sue antiche rovine romane. Durante il nostro tour sperimenterai anche l'atmosfera di una collina medievale italiana visitando negozi di artigianato locale e facendo una passeggiata attraverso i tipici vicoletti. Dopo una pausa pranzo (non inclusa) ci trasferiremo ad Assisi. Al centro del nostro tour ci sarà la Basilica di San Francesco con i suoi magnifici affreschi di Giotto (XIII-XIV sec.), Uno dei più importanti artisti d'Italia nel Medioevo.
Il bacino superiore in marmo ha dodici lati divisi in ventiquattro pannelli lisci di pietra rosa di Assisi. Ognuno è separato da un numero uguale di statuette in marmo bianco di Carrara disposte su sporgenze tra i pannelli. Alcune delle figure rappresentano personaggi della storia della città e leggende, mentre altri sono simbolici.
La Rocca Paolina, o fortezza Paolina, si trova proprio nel centro storico di Perugia e si può entrare attraverso una porta a Porta Marzia o la scala mobile che collega Piazza Italia a Piazza Partigiani.
La Cattedrale di San Lorenzo si trova nel centro storico di Perugia in Piazza IV Novembre, la facciata sud che si affaccia sulla piazza. Una chiesa primitiva dedicata al proto-martire Lawrence, morto a Roma nel 258, fu costruita qui nel IX secolo in cima al vecchio foro etrusco-romano della città. Non c'è traccia del primo edificio.
L'arco monumentale etrusco (III a.C.), orientato a nord, appartiene alle prime mura della città. Con i suoi 11 m. alta e per il suo ottimo stato di conservazione, è considerata la più imponente di tutta l'antica Etruria.
La Basilica di Santa Chiara è una chiesa dedicata e contiene le spoglie di Santa Chiara d'Assisi, seguace di San Francesco d'Assisi e fondatrice dell'Ordine delle Povere Signore, oggi nota come l'Ordine di Santa Chiara.
Il Tempio di Minerva è un antico edificio romano. Attualmente ospita una chiesa, Santa Maria sopra Minerva, costruita nel 1539 e ristrutturata in stile barocco nel XVII secolo. Il tempio fu costruito nel I secolo per volere di Gneo Caesius e Tito Caesius Priscus, che furono due dei quattuorviri della città e finanziarono anche la costruzione.

Great day! It was ungodly hot but our tour guide kept us in the shade as much as possible. She was a great storyteller but also a master of Logistics. She arranged a lovely lunch as well as transportation which allowed us to be dropped off at the top of Assisi (which is on a very steep hill) and picked up later at the bottom. I give her my highest recommendation!
The day was cold, windy, and damp, but the warmth of our guide Barbara and our driver cut through all that and made it a truly memorable visit. Barbara’s knowledge of art and history was amazing. There is a lot of walking and steps but she made allowances and accommodated our pace. We missed nothing. At the end of the day we felt we were saying goodbye to an old friend that we hope will see again soon. She made the tour a great personal experience, so much more than just visiting historical and religious monuments.
This tour was a great way to see the best of Perugia and Assisi in a day. 1st part was a walking tour of Perugia hosted by Pepe. Great views of the city, Etruscan walls, old fort ruins as well as history of Perugia and Italy. Also some excellent tips on a sunset bar and pizza by slice. Perugia is a wonderful and underrated city. 2nd part we were collected by a driver and taken to Assisi. Met by expert guide and taken through this fascinating world heritage site. A must see if you are in the region. All up one of the best private tours you can do in Italy.

Our guide, Werner, was truly a local, with earlier European background. His knowledge of history and art was amongst the best of any guide we have used anywhere. And his love of Assisi and St. Francis was very obvious. We also liked that he was flexible in scheduling, and open to expanding discussions.
An excellent guide; informative and helpful. One of our best experiences in Italy so far. As we are “older”, we appreciated how he managed the pace. Michaela was a delight in every way.
Francesca made our two city day tour very memorable. She brilliantly covered a huge amount of artistic social and cultural history across all of the ages of Etruscan, Roman, medieval and Renaissance history. She kept us in the shade when it got too hot and went at my slower pace when it was needed, and very kindly organised for us to take the tour of Basilica of San Francesco D’assisi from the top down so I didn’t need to walk the many steps going up! We would thoroughly recommend this incredible tour and our personal thanks to Francesca for a wonderful day.
