Il nostro viaggio verso le Alpi albanesi inizia alle 06:00 del mattino. Il nostro tour leader verrà a prenderti al tuo hotel a Tirana
Mentre guidiamo lungo la strada verso il nord dell'Albania, rimarrai stupito da splendidi paesaggi; campi selvaggi, fiumi, il lago di Scutari e aspre montagne incontaminate. Da Scutari sperimenteremo il trasporto locale in sella alle 7:30 circa.
Man mano che prendiamo la strada principale per Theth, la zona diventa più rurale, con meno auto ma più natura selvaggia e paesaggi sorprendenti. Per la sua posizione favorevole questa zona è famosa per la coltivazione di erbe medicinali, e se sei fortunato a viaggiare in maggio - giugno rimarrai stupito dai graziosi e aromatici campi di lavanda, che ti faranno sentire come se fossi in Provenza (Francia). Sulla strada per la cima, attraverseremo una ripida e subdola collina che arriva fino a 1700 metri sul livello del mare a Qafa e Thores. Dicono che questo sia il posto con la migliore immagine: una vista perfetta delle Alpi albanesi.
Dopo l'arrivo a Theth visiteremo la Chiesa Vecchia e la Torre “Lock in” (simbolo di Theth). Le storie dietro questi edifici occupano secoli pieni di storia.
Faremo una breve pausa per rinfrescarci e inizieremo il nostro viaggio escursionistico verso l'Occhio Azzurro verso mezzogiorno. Blue Eye si è formato dall'erosione dell'acqua derivante dallo scioglimento delle nevi delle Alpi albanesi. L'escursione dura circa 1,5 ore solo andata, con una distanza percorribile di 6,2 km in entrambe le direzioni e circa 700 m di dislivello. Questo percorso è considerato da facile a moderato e richiede una certa esperienza nell'escursionismo. Non potrai distogliere lo sguardo da questo splendido scenario della natura con i suoi brillanti colori blu e verdi, sarà come trovarsi all'interno di una cartolina. Inoltre, cosa curiosa, la temperatura del Blue Eye è di circa 5 gradi Celsius. Avresti il coraggio di tuffarti nell'acqua blu ma freddissima?

The guide had extensive knowledge about Albania. He was very kind and attentive to my needs.
This tour exceeded our expectations. It was a very simple trip you could do solo, but our guide Klodi made the trek an incredible experience. He made a point to stop at the best photo spots, introduced us to the locals, and shared the town’s history with us. We stopped for lunch back in Theth and overall had an amazing experience. It was extremely laid back. The hike to the waterfall might be a little rough for some but it’s not technical, just steep in some spots.

Redi was our guide and let me tell you, the tour was beautiful on its on but it was the comfort and insight that Remi gave that really made this an amazing tours. The amount of cultural insight we were given went way beyond your typical tourist stories. It made us understand and appreciate the culture of Albania as we knew nothing of it prior. The amount of time and patience he gave us was another level. I would highly recommend this tour not only for the experience, but also just to see how beautiful the northern part of this country is
We did everything mentioned in the tour description, however the time taken for the tour was incorrect and misleading. As written in the itinerary, the whole trip would take 8 hours, and the driving time from Tirana would take 30 minutes to 1 hour - however the driving time from our hotel in Tirana to the Blue Eye of Theth actually took 4 hours with small breaks which lasted 10-15 minutes. After the 3-hour hike to the Blue Eye of Theth we were rushed back to visit the Old Church and the “Lock in” Tower within 30 minutes and had to drive 4 hours back to our hotel, and we arrived home at 11PM. So in total we spent 17 hours for this trip, not 8 hours as advertised. Due to the long drive, we could not have enough time and energy to admire the scenery or the places of interest, as everything was rushed to try to catch up to the schedule. Our guide (Toni) was excellent and helpful, however I feel deceived by the descriptions of this tour. This tour is not worth it in my opinion - it is better to have a 2-day stay in this area to be able to appreciate Shkoder and Theth than to rush everything and feel exhausted. I feel bad for the guide as well. Will not recommend this tour to anyone.
Don't miss out on this experience! The views we got to see during this tour were truly stunning! But what made the tour even more special was our guide Toni. He is a great conversationalist and is more than willing to share his knowledge on any subject related to Albania, be it history, nature, or the current state of affairs, you name it! Toni was totally going an extra mile to make sure we got the most out of this tour. Thank you for making our first visit to Albania such a memorable one!
Ilir is a wealth of information and so friendly. We had a long amazing day at the Blue Eye and Theth. Wear hiking shoes (not trainers/boots). Amazing hike and views were jaw dropping. Ilir walked with us the entire time. We ate after our hike at one of two restaurants that were at the trail head and in the river. Great grilled trout. Must see. Town of Theth has a ton of gorgeous tiny A frame homes for rent too. Do yourself a favor and take a nature bath on this excursion …
I had Toni as my guide, he was professional and made me feel so welcome and comfortable. He couldn’t have done more. The trip itself was breathtaking, the views were unbelievable. Definitely the highlight of my trip.

This tour was awesome! Apart from the beautiful vistas of the Albanian Alos and the crystal clear waters of the Blue Eye, our guide Ilir went above and beyond our expectations. He was informative about the history of the area and kind and patient on our sometimes difficult trek to the Blue Eye. A long day but worth every penny. I’d highly recommend it.
The weather was not there but our Guide Sam was kind and smiling throughout the tour! He should give himself more stops on long road trips. Enjoy hiking with great views of the mountains and the blue eye of Theth 🙃
