Itinerario
Inizieremo la giornata con un pick-up mattutino dal luogo selezionato nella capitale Reykjavík
A 40 minuti di auto dalla prima fermata: Parco Nazionale Þingvellir (Thingvellir). Questa straordinaria rift valley, dove le placche tettoniche eurasiatiche e nordamericane si allontanano, mostra sia la straordinaria geologia che la storia profonda. Qui puoi esplorare Althing, il parlamento nazionale originale dell'Islanda, ammirare la fessura di Silfra e la spaccatura di Almannagjá e godere di ampie viste sul lago Þingvallavatn, un'introduzione indimenticabile alle meraviglie naturali dell'Islanda.
La nostra avventura ci condurrà poi alla mozzafiato Gullfoss, giustamente chiamata la "cascata d'oro", situata ai margini delle Highlands islandesi. Cascando con grazia all'interno del canyon del fiume Hvíta, Gullfoss è alimentato dal ghiacciaio Langjökull a nord, conferendogli un'aura maestosa. Come una cascata a due livelli, Gullfoss sembra svanire nelle profondità sottostanti, con le sue acque che precipitano per ben 32 metri. La cascata offre un'affascinante dimostrazione della potenza della natura, mostrando le forze crude dei paesaggi islandesi. Successivamente, esploreremo l'Area Geotermica Geysir, il luogo di nascita della parola "geyser". Passeggia tra bocche fumanti, piscine gorgoglianti e sorgenti termali e osserva Strokkur, il geyser più attivo, eruttare ogni 4-10 minuti, mandando acqua bollente a 15-20 metri (49-66 piedi) nell'aria.
Ci rilasseremo nella Laguna Segreta, la piscina geotermica più antica d'Islanda. Immersa in campi di lava muschiosa, l'acqua rimane calmante 38–40 °C tutto l'anno, con un piccolo geyser che aggiunge fascino. Porta il tuo costume da bagno o noleggialo sul sito per la perfetta conclusione rilassante della tua avventura.
La nostra ultima tappa è il Cratere Kerið, o “L’occhio del mondo”, un cratere vulcanico formatosi oltre 6.500 anni fa. Il suo lago verde-blu acceso incastonato contro la roccia vulcanica rossa lo rende un must-see. Il cratere è largo 270 m con pareti alte fino a 55 m, che offrono una vista mozzafiato dal bordo e una panoramica escursione di 20 minuti intorno al lago. I cambiamenti stagionali, dal muschio verde in estate alla neve e al ghiaccio in inverno, lo rendono magico tutto l'anno.

Loved the guide and stops. Two issues: be prepared for many many flies in your face at the first stop (tectonic plate divide) so maybe bring a hiking face net; also, our bus was packed and back row with four people uncomfortable.

Maria was an amazing guide/driver! She was full of Icelandic tips and stories which kept us engaged for the 10 or so hours. The sites were incredible and the time spent at each was about right. And we stopped for ice cream too 😊! We would definitely book a tour with Maria again!
