Tour di un Giorno Intero in Bici a Otranto e Dintorni
Descrizione
Guidando per le strade secondarie e una piacevole strada sterrata, scopriremo una delle zone più affascinanti e tipiche del Salento: i dintorni di Otranto. Attraversando la Valle del Idro, troveremo la Cripta bizantina di Sant'Angelo e raggiungeremo la fondazione Le Constantine, un centro dedicato all'agricoltura biologica e alla tessitura tradizionale con telai antichi. Andremo in bici fino al giardino di megaliti di Giurdignano per ammirare i dolmen e menhir preistorici, per poi visitare un laghetto in una cava dismessa di bauxite. Ci fermeremo in una panetteria con forno a legna per un delizioso pranzo con prodotti tipici e poi andremo anche a Porto Badisco per un dolce caffè con ghiaccio e latte di mandorla e per fare una bella nuotata fresca.

Risaliremo la valle dell'Idro lungo un piacevole tratto sterrato e vedremo la Cripta di Sant'Angelo, scavata nella morbida roccia del Salento in epoca bizantina.
Ci trasferiremo a Casamassella e ci fermeremo alla Fondazione Costantine, centro dedicato all'agricoltura biologica e alla tessitura tradizionale con vecchi telai.
Raggiungeremo quindi Giurdignano, principale centro megalitico del Salento per via dei tanti dolmen e menhir, prime testimonianze della presenza umana nella zona.
Fermati in un panificio con forno in pietra per un delizioso pranzo organizzato dall'organizzazione. Dopo pranzo, pedaleremo verso Porto Badisco per una lunga pausa e, tempo permettendo, una nuotata. È anche possibile noleggiare canoe.
Proseguiremo poi lungo la magnifica litoranea verso Otranto. Ci fermeremo al faro di Punta Palascìa, il punto più orientale d'Italia, e un caratteristico lago in una cava di bauxite in disuso. Rientro ad Otranto nel tardo pomeriggio.

Carlo took us from start to finish in his story about Otranto area. Seen many unknown places where you can normally never get by car. This 37km bike ride takes you mainly on roads through the hinterland and sometimes even gravel paths. Eaten tasty figs along the way, freshly picked. In short, fun day in good company.
Amazing day with Carlo. He was super knowledgeable about the whoke area, history, flowers, wildlife, plants, just a fantastic day out. Easy pace and relaxed. My wife and I love our bike tours and this was one of the best.
Last Saturday we took part in a splendid bicycle ride with Salento Bici Tour. Our guide, Ilenia, very kind and professional, guided us to discover the area of Otranto and its surroundings, showing us some "gems" that we would never have discovered on our own. opportunity to see. Beautiful experience among menhirs and dolmens with lots of history and nature. The stop at Porto Badisco and the visits to Punta Palascia (the easternmost point of Italy) and the bauxite quarries were the icing on a relaxing and fun experience. Carlo, like the entire Salento Bici Tour team, are highly trained people who pay attention to the experience of the participants, with good quality bikes, including electric ones. Highly recommended
A very nice day with a guide who shares his passion of his land. We drove in very beautiful small country roads, discovered some monoliths and caves as well as their stories. Beautiful landscapes at the end of the day, along the coast. Very good & new e-bikes . Enchanted

It was a joy dealing with Carlo from beginning to end. He promptly responded to all inquiries and made helpful suggestions leading up to the tour. Our trip along the coast from Otranto to Tricase was wonderful! Carlo shared delightful stories about Salento during photo ops, food tastings and coffee breaks. With my 2 older sons a very informative bike ride done with Carlo. The bike is a perfect way to explore the area. Carlo gave everything a dimension by telling the back stories about this historically interesting area. The trip is certainly not hard and doable for almost everyone.
