Walking shoes recommended. Visit to the museum and cemetery was a solemn moment to see how young those who died.
* Extra $ for option of riverboat ride, and premier seating on train. Tour was good and food was good as well. Guide very knowledgeable.
Great experience to explore WWII history. Definitely worth the trip. Great way to see and walk in part of history. Definitely worth the extra 300 but to take the speed boat up to the bridge.do the upgrade to the seating carriage as well while on the train ride.
Expect to pay 500 BHT more per person in cash to the guide Raj and driver Ake for this trip. These two are scammers who will tell you that you need to pay more for upper class seats on the view side of the train. Raj will show you nice upholstered seats when the train cars all come weigh the very basic hard seats. The view is the same from either side. They will change the pick up and call you that they can pick up for a hefty fee at your hotel. The museum is a VERY TIRED museum. The boat ride was also 200 BHT extra person. It was nice to see the bridge, but the tour is a scam. Do not recommend. Look for another tour operator.
Dear Anna_B, Thank you for sharing your feedback and for joining our Bangkok to River Kwai: A Journey Through History tour. We are truly sorry to hear about your disappointment and would like to clarify a few points. Please note that the THB 500 upgrade fee is not a scam, but an optional VIP seat upgrade on the Death Railway train. These seats are limited and provide more comfortable arrangements and better viewing positions. Guests who prefer standard seating are always welcome to stay with their included ticket — the upgrade is purely a personal choice. Similarly, the boat ride is an optional experience offered to guests who wish to see the River Kwai Bridge from a different perspective. It is not mandatory, and all prices are clearly mentioned by our guide before confirmation. We truly appreciate your feedback and understand that unexpected costs can cause frustration. However, the River Kwai experience remains one of Thailand’s most meaningful historical sites, and we’re glad you enjoyed its beauty despite the inconvenience. We have also shared your comments with our operations team and guides Raj and Ake to ensure that all upgrade options are explained clearly in advance to avoid any misunderstanding in the future. Thank you once again for traveling with us — your feedback helps us improve. Warm regards, amit
The train ride and seeing the train track was very good. Guide was very informative, scenery is beautiful, JEATH museum was very tired, need exhibitions cases refreshing but, to learn about the history was very informative.

We also appreciate your candid feedback about the JEATH Museum. We'll certainly pass your comments along to the relevant authorities. Your thoughts help us—and our partners—continuously improve. We hope to welcome you back on another enriching journey soon! An amazing tour and experience, thanks to our guide Rach, was so friendly, enthusiastic, knowledgeable and helpful.
It was interesting to learn more about what happened in this aerea under the second world war. And to see the bridge and the river. The guide had a good clar voice. But it was a little the difficult to hear and understand him in the back of the car.
Overall, it was a great experience. We first visited the cemetery and a simple museum. Then all members of the group opted for the optional boat trip up the river to the train station. I especially enjoyed the train ride and the included buffet lunch. The drive back to Bangkok was extra long because of traffic but our guide (Rach) and driver tried to drop us close to our next destination.
We had a great tour with Rach - our guide. He had a very big knowledge about the history and the places we visited. Definitely worth booking.
Nina is a great guide. Very gracious and extremely knowledgeable. Driver was also a pro. Long trip but worth every second.
