Let me start by saying that this wasnt an easy trek. It was about a moderate level difficulty. So beginners like me, ought to be physically and psychologically ready for a challenge! Beyond that, it was definitely a nice trek! The views of the mountains, valleys and pass were beautiful. You would definitely experience a nice camp outdoors for both nights. A nice way to disconnect from the hustle of daily life and just reconnect with nature as well as yourself. The guide, Daulet, was very good. He was knowledgeable about the area and routes around the mountains. He was able to give different route options for us to consider choosing and he would be able to adapt accordingly. He was also very attentive to our needs. He gave periodical breaks for us to catch our breaths before proceeding with the trek. He was also very well prepared logistically. The food was sufficient, drinking water were abundant and he prepared quality tents, mats and sleeping bags for us. His shepherd was also good and well-prepared. Overall, a nice trek with picturesque view all around.
Sardor guided us and it was a fantastic experience. He had good and funny stories to tell, it was never boring, the food was very good and the hike was great with many nice views. highly recomend this hike and Sardor as the guide!
The two of us joined 5 others, our guide Sherali, and 2 donkey handlers for a magical three days. The pick up and drop off was well coordinated, and the arrangements and communications for the entire three days was flawless. The food was plentiful, varied, and delicious. Adequate water was provided. I wished I had brought my own camp pillow and pad - the provided pads were pretty poor. Sleeping bags were OK, probably not worth bringing your own. The route was interesting with many stunning views. Most of the path was easy to moderate with a couple of brief, steeper challenging sections. The area is experiencing climate disaster influenced lack of rain; some of the dirt road section was annoyingly dusty due to this. Poles were nice for maybe 50% of the trek. This was my first hiking experience with pack animals - I am likely spoiled for future backpacking trips, LOL. Sherali was responsive to the pace of the group - apparently we were a fast group, but he is clearly skilled at assessing abilities and comfort level and making adjustments to timeframe and route. We added the section to the petroglyphs, and it was a perfectly long day :) Fall colors were lovely, and we were lucky to share in a walnut harvest along the way. We also enjoyed a full day, private tour of Tashkent that Nuratau arranged for us. Our guide, Dilmurad, has a super broad and deep knowledge of Uzbek history and of Tashkent's sights and timeline. We had interesting conversations about Islam and Uzbek culture. We wanted to get a grounding in Tashkent at the start of our three week stay in Uzbekistan and this tour was perfect. Pacing was good, the variety of places visited was just right, and Dilmurad's warm and responsive commentary kept us engaged and interested all day.
We enjoyed our 3 days hike, beautiful picturesque scenery. We are used to hike in the forests in England, this was our first time in the mountains and it was challenging at times. Although it's supposed to be lower temperature than Tashkent, it was still very hot for us in August with the sun beating on us the whole time. Thankfully we always walked by a stream, so we were able to cool down with that. We had a good time with our guide and his brother. Lovely people, lovely conversations and lovely food throughout and plentiful. We had 2 donkeys carrying stuff, and they were fast ahead knowing the path. On the last day we had a choice to do the tough 5 hrs hike on the high mountain (which was consisting of 2-3 hrs high climbing and 2 hrs on a steep descent, all of that under no trees, no stream nearby and under the scorching hot sun the whole time) or the shorter cut, we choose the shorter cut and thank God we did coz after that I was dead! You still hike up a couple of steep bits, but be prepared for the descent, at the end your knees will hurt! Would definitely recommend for future hikers to bring stuff to do for your downtime as there's plenty. We had hours with nothing to do so perhaps bring a book, cards or some kind of entertainment. 3 days was more than enough for us, i think anything more it would have been too much. Netherveless we had a lovely experience!
All the crew are very hospitable at all time day and night. The mountain guide is well versed into the terrain there with deep knowledge of the history of the place. As June is a hot month there, perhaps adding a number of chase longue around the pool is not a bad idea.
We had a wonderful time on the Chimgan trek in May, despite bad rain. Our guide, Sardor, was great: when he saw that it was going to rain, he planned an alternate route and made sure that we kept safe and (relatively) dry. The route is beautiful and makes a nice break from the cities, and Nuratau Travel was utterly professional from start to finish. Highly recommended.
We have just returned from this three day trek and highly recommend it. On the first day we walked along the peaceful Nurekata valley from Shuldak. On the second, we walked up to an unforgettable spot (8,500 feet in altitude) to the ancient petroglyphs on a secondary peak below the towering Greater Chimyon above. On the third, we returned through the trees to the ski resort to return to Tashkent. The trek took us through an interesting variety of scenery. The two nights camping in beautiful riverside spots with a campfire were memorable too (but bring warm clothes as the temperature drops!) Alibek was an excellent guide and Tulkun an excellent cook. Well worth booking this trip!
Excellent trek with an exceptional guide. 6 days of trekking, in a beautiful country and region. Thank you Sherali
The trecking was well prepared and guided, with the main challenge the heat, the guide and companions provided all the essentials, with excellent food, time for resting and flexible to accomodate the level of travellers. Friendly and very experienced guide. It was a discovery of the Tian Shan range. A pleasure to discover Uzbekistan.
12 days of trip with the agency support with transport, guiding, accommodation booking. Very efficient and smooth contact prior to the trip. All specific expectations, unobvious visits, not ordinary requests were taken care of. Great guides - advantage for those who wants to know more about contemporary Uzbeks live - not only history. Fluent in English, proactive, supportive people. Highly recommended.
