Incontra la tua guida di fronte alle scale d'ingresso principali dell'edificio Rudolfinum, Alšovo nábř. 12, 110 00 Josefov. La guida avrà in mano un ombrello blu e bianco. Da qui prenderai un minibus per Terezín, che impiegherà circa 1 ora.
Il minibus ti porterà a Terezín. Terezin si trova a circa novanta miglia a nord di Praga e appena a sud di Litomerice. La città fu originariamente costruita nel 1780 dall'imperatore Giuseppe II d'Austria e prese il nome da sua madre, l'imperatrice Maria Teresa.
Terezin consisteva nella Grande Fortezza e nella Piccola Fortezza. La Grande Fortezza era circondata da bastioni e conteneva baracche. Tuttavia, Terezin non era stata utilizzata come fortezza dal 1888; Terezin era diventata una città di guarnigione che era rimasta praticamente la stessa, quasi completamente separata dal resto della campagna. La piccola fortezza è stata utilizzata come prigione per pericolosi criminali. Terezin cambiò radicalmente quando i nazisti la ribattezzarono Theresienstadt e vi inviarono i primi trasporti ebraici nel novembre 1941. Questi uomini furono inviati per trasformare la città di guarnigione in un campo per ebrei. Il problema più grande e più serio che questi gruppi di lavoro dovettero affrontare fu la trasformazione di una città che nel 1940 conteneva circa 7.000 residenti in un campo di concentramento che doveva contenere da 35.000 a 60.000 persone.

Excellent tour, and well worth making the trip. The guides were knowledgeable, terrific and provided details as expected. The driver was excellent! We really appreciated the smaller size tour, and the van was comfortable. The time was sufficient. The team was responsive when I notified them about the meeting place and when I thought we would arrive late. Note, The Terizin site memorial grounds- there was uneven ground, rocks and stairs for those with mobility difficulties. Overall excellent tour.

We did not have a lot of time but liked that this tour provided a half-day afternoon option. Our guide Zora was exceptional and knowledgable, bringing the history to life. The only downside is some of the facilities were closed because it was Saturday (Sabath) and the museum closed at 5pm so we only had 20 minutes to look through it...
