Molti di loro rischiarono la vita quella notte in mare mosso, sperando di aiutare. L'operazione di ricerca e recupero che seguì fu una delle più grandi della storia canadese. Titanic Grave Side. ( Fairview Lawn Cemetery ) Questo e' il cimitero di Fairview Lawn, luogo di riposo di 121 vittime dell'RMS Titanic. Halifax divenne centrale nella storia del Titanic perché era il porto più vicino al sito del disastro. Quando le navi di recupero lasciarono questo porto nell'aprile 1912, riportarono indietro 209 corpi. Molti non sono mai stati identificati. Qui, noterete i semplici marcatori di granito grigio — alcuni con nomi, altri solo con un numero e la data 15 aprile 1912. Le tombe sono disposte in una leggera curva, destinata a ricordare la prua di una nave, che simboleggia il Titanic stesso. Una delle storie più toccanti è quella del ‘Bambino Ignoto’, la cui tomba vedrete poco più avanti. Per decenni, nessuno sapeva chi fosse. I moderni test del DNA lo identificarono in seguito come Sidney Leslie Goodwin, un bambino inglese di 19 mesi.

The young man that was our tour guide was very nice, but it was very difficult to understand his accent. He is obviously not a local person and knows very little about the area. He did not seem to know his way around or direct us to what we wanted to see or stop at for lunch. We ended up cutting it short and going directly back to where we had started. It was very unfortunate, but I cannot recommend this tour.

We also accommodated a delay of approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes, and our driver-guide waited for your pickup at the cruise terminal. We understand that weather conditions impacted the experience and that the tour was shortened due to rain. We are also sorry to hear your comments regarding the guide. We had a wonderful experience visiting Peggy‘s Cove with Neda. She was so knowledgeable about the whole area of Halifax and was very informative throughout our entire drive. She even answered all of our questions when we saw things that grabbed our attention. . When it was time for lunch she had great recommendations and even showed us a nice place that was less busy than the tourist spots. We had a group of 7 adults, and we were very comfortable in the minivan. Everyone in our group was impressed and we would highly recommend this tour.

Zuber picked us up promptly from the designated meeting point. He gave us lots of information on the history of Halifax before driving us on the scenic route to Peggy’s Cove. The small group was nice.
