This was a fantatsic day. Thanks so much to Lebo for being such an amazing guide and sharing his wealth of local knowledge and for going above and beyond tfor me to see and experience the 'real' Soweto. One of the most impactful tours I have ever done.
The best part of this tour was our guide, Griffith. He was incredibly knowledgeable, sharing detailed history, stories, and anecdotes throughout the 6-hour tour. He was easy-going, friendly, and happy to answer any and all questions - truly 10/10! We loved getting a glimpse of Soweto and learning the history of the 1976 uprising. Mandela’s house and the Apartheid Museum were definite highlights! The only reason we didn’t rate 5/5 is that parts of the tour felt like the tourists traps that we often try to avoid - we were invited into a home in Soweto and asked to donate to the family who lived there (which we were happy to do), but when another person on our tour didn’t have cash to donate, they quickly whipped out a card reader for her to use. When touring the kindergarten, the kids appeared performative for the tourists, but as soon as we left, everything seemed to stop - and, again, we were asked to donate. Upon leaving, we were accosted by vendors who took us by the hand and led us to their tables. When arriving at Mandela house, we were greeted by costumed Zulu dancers who insisted on pictures and donations as well. We understand that everybody needs to make a living and that tourism is a good way to generate income, but we don’t love repeatedly being pressured for donations throughout a tour.
Great way to see the apartheid museaum and Soweto. Not too long or too short, and the guide was fantastic.
We had an excellent tour. Our guide was so knowledgeable and friendly. It was excellent to see and hear about the history of this beautiful place. All the people we met were amazing. Thank you for offering this tour.
Comfortable and informative way to learn about Johannesburg and Soweto. Apartheid museum was excellent.
Fantastic tour with our guide Lebo, who was a refreshing young man full of knowledge and information, which added so much value to the tour and experience. His insights were fantastic in explaining the evolution of Johannesburg. Fully enjoyed the tour and can recommend it as a fantastic experience.
My mom and I had a great experience in the tour. Bryan, the guide, picked us up at the time promissed, and spoke a clear English (my mom doesn’t speak really well, but she was able to understand most of the information shared. I will definitely reccomend the tour and company to my friends who wish to visit the city in the future.
We had a very touching experience visiting Soweto and Apartheid museum. The pick up and drop off was smooth. Water provided. Very comfortable walking tour. Our driver and guide Lebo is a local. He provided us great insights into the history of South Africa and current events. He was well-spoken and mature beyond his age when talking about sensitive topics. An afternoon to remember. A must-do tour if you are in the area.
We had a fantastic half day tour taking in all the major tourist spots. Our tour guide Brian was excellent, friendly, knowledgeable and funny he made our day very enjoyable. We would definitely recommend buying the gifts from the locals in Soweto.
I had an excellent day with my guide, who spoke good French and provided a lot of explanations. I felt safe. The communication and the handling went well. An emotional visit, and I believe that when one passes through this area, it is a duty to go there. I recommend this visit.
