Le acque scintillanti del Lago Titicaca, il lago navigabile più alto del mondo, sono una delle attrazioni imperdibili del Perù. Si trova a cavallo del confine tra Perù e Bolivia. Il “Lago a Forma di Puma” si estende per oltre 8372 Km, il lago ospita alcune comunità locali tradizionali che non sono toccate dalla modernità. In questo tour di mezza giornata da Puno, visiterai le isole galleggianti degli Uros più fotografate e di spicco create dall'uomo, fatte interamente di canne tatora. Le canne di Totora furono usate per la prima volta secoli fa per costruire queste isole sul Lago Titicaca dalle famiglie Uro-Aymara che stabilirono la loro casa sul lago. Anche le barche della gente del posto sono fatte di canne di totora e usano queste navi per la pesca. Anche alcuni dei manufatti degli isolani sono realizzati con canne di totora e le persone amichevoli di questa comunità offrono il loro lavoro ai visitatori come ricordo della loro visita in questo luogo magico.

Il tuo epico tour dell'isola galleggiante di Uros inizia con un trasferimento al molo delle barche dove ti imbarcherai per un giro in barca di 25 minuti per vedere la vita sulle isole galleggianti di Uros. Quando inizi a navigare, avrai una vista incontaminata delle cime andine innevate in lontananza. Mentre raggiungeremo le coste delle isole degli Uros, la gente del posto ti porrà un caloroso benvenuto e ti introdurrà alla loro vita su quest'isola artificiale. Le persone qui parlano aymara, la nostra guida turistica ti insegnerà alcune parole in modo da poterle salutare nella loro lingua. Il capo della comunità dimostrerà come costruiscono queste isole e ne condividerà la storia. Se lo desideri, puoi acquistare dei souvenir qui. La gente del posto offrirà quindi un breve giro sulla loro barca di canne totora fino all'isola principale di Uros (questo ha un costo aggiuntivo). Avrai del tempo libero per passeggiare, l'isola è anche fatta di canna di totora. Dopo aver fatto il pieno di storia e panorami, ci imbarcheremo in un viaggio di ritorno a Puno.

Such a wonderful morning, exploring the Uros floating islands. He was warm, knowledgable, and gave great insight into how the islands are built and how the local community lives on the water. We got to visit a family, learn about their traditions, and even take a ride on one of the traditional reed boats. Saul made the whole expereince feel authentic and personal, not rushed at all. A must do when visiting Puno. Highly recommend.

It was a half day tour and it was well organized by the provider. I visited Uros islands, learned about culture and how they make floating islands using Totora reef and then we had a small additional ride (optional) at an additional cost of 20 soles on traditional puma reed boat and it was so beautiful. Local Aymara people does rely on tourism, textiles and boat tours for their livelihood.

An absolutely gorgeous natural gem in South America, Lake Titicaca offers a truly unique experience, especially with a visit to the Uros Islands. Sitting at an altitude of around 3,800 meters above sea level, the lake is vast and breathtaking. While the islands are now well developed for tourism, they remain fascinating and culturally enriching. The experience is deeply educational, offering insights into the traditions and lifestyle of the local people. The food is a highlight especially the ceviche and the local Puteada tea is highly recommended. Prices for food and drinks are quite reasonable, making the visit even more enjoyable. It’s a wonderful destination and definitely not to be missed.

During our tour of Lake Titicaca, we visited both the famous floating islands and a natural island. It was a wonderful island experience, and I’m glad I had the opportunity to visit. Visitors are warmly welcomed, and detailed explanations are shared about how the islands are built and how the locals go about their daily lives. During the boat ride, a few young children sang a song, which made the journey even more memorable. Amazing tour to the floating islands with Abel! Everything was perfect, pickup was ontime and Abel the guide was friendly and informative. Yes, it was a bit touristy but guess this is the prime source of income for the island dwellers. The tour company was exceptionally nice, all entrance fees and transportation were arranged and i was contacted the night before with detailed pockup information.
