Excellent tour, covering the history and current impacts on Johannesburg and Soweto. Safe driving, opportunities to explore and shop, history, statues and historic buildings. My guide KG had a huge breadth of knowledge, which she shared with humour and personal experiences. Fabulous way to understand more of the formation, background and current status of this city.
It was a half day tour but it was packed with valuable insight and history.

Pastor was a very good guide, provided extensive history, was friendly, and very accommodating when I asked for a little extra time for souvenir shopping. The visit to Soweto was humbling as we walked among its streets and visited a family’s home. Mandela’s house was very moving, Constitution building impressive and city tour very educational. .

We spent lots of hours with Katlego and visited different districts of Joburg, learned about the inner city, Soweto, and the history of the city as well as recent events. Katlego is a great and very knowledgable guide—highly recommended.

Fantastic history tour of Johannesburg and Soweto. Our guide Thabiso was very knowledgeable and gave us a great insight in time the troublesome times of South Africa. Really enjoyed the walk through of the old Soweto town! Highly recommended.

Tour was booked 2 months ago with specific timeframes. 24 hours prior the tour operator finally reached out and said there was not enough time to do the tour. Viator then refused to offer a full refund despite the times being very specifically outlined when booking originally.
Thank you for your feedback. As mentioned, Viator’s refund policy does not allow refunds for cancellations made after 24 hours from booking, which is why they declined the request. Regarding the tour itself – we were fully prepared to operate your private tour, even with your later flight arrival at 14:40. However, when you requested an 18:30 drop-off, we advised that the full program would not be feasible due to heavy rush-hour traffic. The cancellation was made at your discretion after we provided that honest assessment. We regret that the timing didn’t work out and hope we can welcome you on a future visit with a schedule that allows you to enjoy the full experience.
