La cattedrale è la sede dell'Arcivescovo di Bari-Bitonto, dedicata a San Sabino, vescovo di Canosa, le cui reliquie furono qui portate nel IX secolo. Qui apprezzerai le mura romane sotterranee chiamate Succorpo.
La piazza rappresenta da sempre il cuore delle attività commerciali e amministrative della città per la presenza del mercato cittadino (attualmente non presente in questa zona) e del palazzo Sedile, punto di riferimento storico del Comune di Bari. Piazza Ferrarese è da sempre uno dei punti di accesso al centro storico che, con i suoi vicoli, vicoli e piccole aperture, si estende da Piazza Ferrarese - Piazza Mercantile fino al Castello Normanno -Svevo. Durante un recente restauro, che ha interessato non solo la piazza ma anche gli edifici circostanti, è venuto alla luce un breve tratto dell'antica Via Appia - Traiana, realizzata dai Romani all'inizio del II secolo d.C.
Il Castello Normanno Svevo ospita la raccolta dei calchi in gesso e mostre d'arte temporanee.

I took this rickshaw tour through Bari with my 71-year-old parents, and the three of us squeezed in with Chiara. She was a wonderful guide who drove us safely around the city while explaining its history and culture. We were only in Bari for one day, so this was a great introduction to the city. Our favorite part was seeing the Nonnas making fresh pasta. I would definitely recommend this tour!

From our experience our tour time was changed from 11.30 to 12 by message we duly arrived at that time but did not depart until 12.30. We booked the Foccacia option which we paid extra for. This didn’t happen when we got back to the depot I pointed this out and we were sent with one of the guides to have a gelato instead.

A fabulous 2 hour ride through Bari, seeing places we would have missed travelling on foot. Elanora’s commentary was brilliant and very informative, a great way to learn about the history of the town! To watch the orecchiette being made in the street was amazing, and to visit the different theatres, fish market, castle and churches….. just wow!!!! 😍 (The stop for gelato was a nice surprise too!!) As they say in Bari, “ sciamaninne !”
