Our guide in Cusco,...

Our guide in Cusco, Rueben was phenomenal! The best we’ve ever had in the world - and we travel the world often. He is extremely friendly, knowledgeable and tailored the tour to us. Oscar, our guide in the Amazon, was also extremely knowledgeable and friendly.

Highly recommend, well organised program

First of all, many thanks to Alvaro who organised the 10 day tour for us. On the morning we started from London we were told the flight to lima was cancelled and shifted to the next day. We were so stressful, and called Alvaro. He sorted out all rescheduling within one day, and we had great 9 days tour. Each part was well organised and we enjoyed every day . Highly recommend, and suggest you to get hold of Alvaro, he is trustworthy and reliable. 😉

An unforgettable trip!

We went to Lima, the Amazon jungle, Cusco, Machu Picchu and Lake Titicaca. We had an absolutely phenomenal time. Everywhere we went the staff really couldn't do enough for us. Even when things didn't go exactly as planned, e.g. riots in central Lima! Grethel sorted out alternative transport and even met us in Cusco to check we were ok. There were some absolutely amazing guides including Luis at the lodge and Wilfredo Torres who was our guide in Cusco. Willow, as Wilfredo likes to be called was an absolute superstar of a guide with a burning passion for the history of the region. An absolute expert on Incas and their architecture he was also intimately familiar with the city and knew lots of trivia including about the local sites. I think however that his great familiarity with the guides and people was most evident in Machu Picchu where he lead us on a tour of the city, which timed it so perfectly that we almost felt it was just us, despite the absolute hordes of people rocketing around the place. If you're going to see Machu Picchu then I can think of no one better to take you around. If you're hesitating about which tour to take then I can without hesitation recommend this one.

It was an excellent tour

I have enjoyed this tour and it was as described on Viator . I loved the amazon and Lake Titicaca so much . the only flow back in th eMachi Picchu tour was the tour guide Ricardo was not informed and did not show interest to explain especially we were in Machu Picchu!!! I have asked him several times to talk and explain the things to us , but he was of a type that he just want us to see with out explanations!!!

This experience was amazing but not with out bumps along the way

Lima- We stayed at the Hotel Antigua Mira Flores . Do not miss out on this hidden gem . The hotel is filled with beauty and the staff are friendly and helpful . The beds are comfortable and the breakfast was delicious They made sure are stay was magical . There is a restaurant by the name of La Traviata close by with the amazing food and waitstaff. PUERTO MALDONADO- We stayed at the CORTOMALTES which is a must. The staff are wonderful, accommodating and a delight to be around. We got to be apart of so many animal encounters( jaguar, anaconda, different kinds of monkeys and insects ) Our guide was very knowledgeable. The one thing I want everyone to be aware of is that you wear used mud boots so you need to have with you long socks to cover your legs. I got a rash which I call jungle rot( athletes foot to the legs) . Do not miss this part of the trip it was beyond amazing.CUSCO- Is beyond beautiful . We chose to stay at the Tika Wasi . They gave us a room with a view of the city and when we couldn't sleep because the beds where so uncomfortable they did change the mattress immediately for us. On Christmas eve night the whole town set off millions of fire works and from our view it was a sight i've never seen. The bad part about this hotel is that you hear the cars going bye all the time and the food is not that great as a matter of fact the only place we found with great food there was the Fallen Angel. The city walking tour was great but it is a long full day and we didn't have the kindest of guides . He rushed us and left us when we had questions on things. Viator and cultural Immersion did not mention that traveling around Christmas a lot of the chapels would be closed to the public. We spent three days of our trip in Cusco but I wish someone would have pointed out how beautiful Ollantaytambo was.We would have loved to stay a night there. We had little time to see anything and we didn't get to go explore the ruins there. The lunch they provided for us on the ride from Cusco to Ollantaytambo was out of this world and by far the best food we had our whole trip. MACHU PICCHUAguas Calientes -Beautiful and the weather was great the whole time. We stayed at the Ferre hotel -comfy beds and great food. They provided us with a room that looked out over the river. We had problems on our trip of not being met at our pick up spots. PUNO- Do not stay at LA HACIENDA PLAZA DE ARMAS as beautiful as it is its very noisy till 4am due to disco near by.TITICACA-Amazing.

Cultural Immersion Peru

Cultural Immersion arranged our trip to Peru. We told them where we wanted to go, they suggested an intinerary and tweaked it when we asked and build in time for us to be on our own as we wanted. Once we got to Peru, we were well cared for. They picked us up on time, gave us boarding passes for our flights and took care of everything. Our guide for Cusco, Machu Picchu and the Sacred Valley was incredibly knowledgeable and a pleasure to be with.

Highlights of Peru in 10 Days

This 10 day trip included everything that I wanted to see in Peru. We went in late June - early July so the weather was perfect. I was nervous about it being too cold, but it wasn't. The Amazon was hot and no AC. I took the advice from a previous comment and went with the upgrade rooms. The entire trip is planned from beginning to end without having to find tourist companies. The three different tour guides spoke English pretty well. During our stay in Cuzcos and Machu Picchu we had Miguel all to ourselves and loved it. All of the shuttlea and transfers were prearranged and on time. What amazes me most was that they always sent a guide along on the transportation, which was great so they could help with any questions or problems. Make sure you print out all confirmations, vouchers, and itineraries and have them with you at all times. At all pick ups a sign is held up with your name, but one time the hotel didn't, and we didn't know where to go. Somewhat panicked because we didn't have our paperwork with us, we called Roma, our contact on Peru at 7:00 at night. She called the hotel and the steward came back to get us. Roma even met us Cuzcos and gave us a gift. She was great to correspond with prior to the trip with questions. I felt that the cost of the trip was very reasonable for what was included- most meals, transportation, entrance fees, tour guides, and nice hotels. You so have to pay for your domestic flights from Lima to Puerto Maldonado, Puerto Maldonado to Cuzco, Juliaca back to Luna. It was around $300 additional dollars and Roma set them up for us. We squeezed a lot onto 10 days,, but the traveling was necessary to see everything that I wanted.

Fabulous Peru Bucket List Trip with Cultural Immersion

We researched planning our own trip to Peru Aug 24 - Sep 6, going with a tour, or crafting a trip that met our "checklist". Cultural Immersion worked with us to take a package that didn't quite meet our schedule and list, and helped us to compile exactly what we wanted to do. The guides, drivers, and staff were all courteous, helpful, and made suggestions or added an extra touch to make us feel welcome and pleased. If we had questions or issues while on our own, they were quick to call or text or email. Our guide Peter for the Colca Valley, Alvaro for Cusco and Machu Picchu, as well as our guide for TIticaca, were knowledgeable, fun, good people. At the Larco Museum in Lima, Rosa - a guide from a company with whom Cultural Immersion contracts - gave us an excellent extended review of how the artwork and ceramics revealed the rich and complex past of Peru. A trip of this nature, with the quality of the assistance we received for a trip that combined independent adventures, small group tours, some private guiding, is not inexpensive. But we feel that the quality and value were most competitive and we recommend them highly. Our only regret was not upgrading all hotels to four-or-five star when possible - though adequate. We salute Cultural Immersion for an excellent and wonderful time in their country.
