Il tour Mysore Silk da Bangalore ci riporta indietro al 1792, quando la storia di Mysore Silk inizia con l'istituzione di stazioni di allevamento di bachi da seta da parte di Tipu Sultan. Nel 1912 il Maharaja Krishnaraja Wodeyar IV fonda la fabbrica di tessitura Mysore Silk per dare il via alla produzione industriale di Mysore Silk. Visiteremo il più grande mercato all'asta di bozzoli di seta dell'Asia, la fabbrica di tessitura Mysore Silk, il Mysore Palace e un antico bazar. Questo tour è organizzato da Five Senses Tours, una società a responsabilità limitata riconosciuta dal Ministero del Turismo e membro dell'Associazione indiana dei tour operator (IATO). Ci dirigeremo a Ramnagaram, una piccola città situata a 50 KM da Bangalore. L'anno era il 1780 quando Tipu Sultan, il sovrano di Mysore, ricevette la seta in dono da un ambasciatore della dinastia Qing in Cina. Affascinato da questo tessuto magico, Tipu ha inviato emissari in Bengala e Cina per saperne di più e alla fine ha istituito 22 stazioni di allevamento di seta che danno il via alla rivoluzione di Mysore Silk. Il Ramnagaram è famoso oggi per la sua industria della seta e riceve ogni giorno 50 tonnellate di bozzoli di seta che lo rendono il più grande mercato di bozzoli di seta in Asia. Visiteremo il mercato governativo del bozzolo di seta e in caso di fortuna potremo persino assistere ad un'asta!
Il successivo filmato per Mysore Silk arrivò nel 1912 quando il Maharaja Krishnaraja Wodeyar IV acquistò 32 telai elettrici dalla Svizzera e fondò la fabbrica di tessitura della seta di Mysore. Nel corso degli anni, la fabbrica non solo ha rivestito la famiglia reale, ma ha anche fatto paracadute per l'esercito britannico durante la seconda guerra mondiale! La fabbrica è operativa ancora oggi e la visiteremo. È un'esperienza affascinante vedere il processo di produzione della seta dalla bobina del bozzolo alla tessitura del tessuto di seta. Visiteremo lo showroom della fabbrica per vedere un'incredibile collezione di Silk Sarees, che è il prodotto finito della fabbrica di tessitura della seta di Mysore. Le Sarees di seta sono un'icona culturale nel sud dell'India. Lunghe da 6-9 iarde, queste sari sono indossate dalle donne in occasioni di buon auspicio come un matrimonio o un compleanno.
Il grande palazzo Mysore è la nostra prossima destinazione. Ritorneremo all'epoca d'oro di Mysore Maharaja per immaginare la gloria che era Mysore, incarnata da questa meraviglia costruita in stile indo-saraceno con una miscela di stili indù, musulmani, Rajput e gotici. Il palazzo è una struttura in pietra a tre piani, con cupole in marmo e una torre a cinque piani di 145 piedi.
Successivamente nel nostro tour a Mysore, visitiamo il mercato Devraja, l'affascinante vecchio bazar di Mysore. È una delizia sensoriale fatta di fiori, verdure, frutta, jaggery, cipolle e patate, riso soffiato e noci di cocco!

A great trip for those who are interested in silk manufacturing as well as visiting the palace. We went to the silk market, which is Asia’s largest silk cocoon market. After that we went to the old silk factory, which is still operational even today and have the full cycle process of Silk production from reeling of cocoon to the weaving of silk fabric. Then the Mysore palace with a private guide, and the local market.
Very original and interesting experience with a very cultivated and attentive guide It was perfect, I highly recommend
This tour and tour guide were AMAZING! Diwakar spent the whole day with me and I felt like I saw and learned so much - about Mysore, silk weaving, Indian history and culture - truly everything. It is hard to pick a favorite part of the experience; I think it is a toss up between the once-in-a-lifetime banana leaf lunch, the amazingly beautiful Mysore Palace, the electrifying Mysore marketplace, and the buzzing weaving factory. Do not hesitate to book this trip and soak in every last minute of it! Bonus note: As a solo female traveler experiencing India for the first time, I was a bit nervous going into this. I am so grateful that Diwakar was a perfect blend of respectful and friendly, helping navigate numerous unique experiences with expertise, compassion, and context. I felt both secure and empowered throughout the whole experience!
Impressive and informative visit to a huge silk cocoon market and a government silk factory. (Know before you go: you must check all your personal belongings before entering the factory) Amazing to see how the silk comes off the cocoons, and all the steps in the weaving process. Did some sightseeing highlights of Mysuru and bought some unfamiliar but delicious fruit in the market. Lunch was wonderful. Great day for people who are interested in understanding how things are made.

It was a very good experience. Got a lot of input on Mysore Silk and it's history. We got to learn about a lot. How it is made, how it becomes a silk from a cocoon.

I enjoyed the trip and it was informative and at the same time I enjoyed alot we visited 4 place in one day I never thought that can explore 4 places in one day and gain knowledge about all the places like from cocoon to hills it's was memorable day
