Dal cimitero controllerai i resti di Storyville (incluso il Saloon "My Place" di Frank Early dove è stato scritto "Pretty Baby"), leggendario quartiere a luci rosse di inizio secolo i cui salotti presentavano artisti del calibro di King Oliver, Buddy Bolden, Jelly Roll Morton, Sidney Bechet e molti altri durante il periodo in cui è nato il jazz.
Da Storyville, controlla la stazione di Basin Street e poi avventurati nel Louis Armstrong Park, la posizione di Congo Square, sito storico di raduni di schiavi africani, l'unico posto in Nord America dove venivano eseguiti riti religiosi e tradizioni musicali dell'Africa occidentale puri.
Congo Square è considerata la sorgente di tutta la musica di New Orleans e di conseguenza di gran parte della canzone più popolare del mondo. È anche la sede del primo New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival (1970) e dell'Auditorium Municipale. Dopo aver lasciato Armstrong Park, entra nell'edificio che ospitava i leggendari J&M Studios che hanno creato il "New Orleans Sound" con abitanti di New Orleans come il Professor Longhair, Dave Bartholomew, Fats Domino, Guitar Slim, Shirley & Lee, Lloyd Price, Ernie K-Doe , Allen Toussaint, Clarence "Frogman" Henry e visitatori tra cui Little Richard, Ray Charles e Jerry Lee Lewis. Listening to the history of jazz and how music is integrated with food, culture, and dancing. Loved that my son was able to play piano with our wonderful tour guide.
The best guided tour I’ve ever been on. David, our tour guide, was absolutely incredible. His knowledge of NOLA music and the convergence of cultures was remarkable. David was Personable, funny and full of energy. He also brought along an iPad and small speaker so he could show us examples of music, history, and culture. I’ve traveled a lot, but this was the best tour.

Our tour was cancelled due to the guide being sick. We were told we would be receiving g a refund, but 3 months later, we have not been refunded yet.
Dave was a very experienced and passionate host. We enjoyed what turned out to be a private tour for the two of us. Our eyes were opened to the history and culture of New Orleans through it's music from Roots to present day. Politics, religion and even architecture were woven into the fabric of the story. Great job Dave! It was so nice to meet and talk with you!
It was definitely an amazing experience and our guide, David was so enthusiastic, energetic, and knowledgeable. Our only disappointment was that the tour was not as described with the many stopping points. We stayed in Louis Armstrong park the entire time. The two hours did feel like ten minutes and we are still very happy we did the tour. I just wish they would update the listing.

Our tour guide David was one of the most knowledgeable people I have ever met when it comes to music history. If you want to really learn the origins of jazz and truly how music connects to everything culturally & historically in New Orleans, this tour is a must.
