Highlight of my Marrakesh trip
We had a great half day with Sofyan. He picked us up promptly at our hotel at 8am and we were lucky enough to be just the 2 guests and Sofyan wa always attentive and informative throughout the day. A really interesting visit to the Argan Cooperative gave us a chance to see some very impressive ladies hard at work before we made our way up to the Atlas Mountains and the sun finally came out. We then got an excellent guide again with just the two of us and chatted our way up the hill through craggy steps to the beautiful waterfalls admiring all the colour and villages on the way. I suppose it cotbe considered tricky for some but we are both early sixties and found it easy and enjoyable. Whole trip up and down took us 1 hr and then had a relaxing coffee beside the raging river which is quite a sight to see. Then headed back to Marrakech and were back at our hotel just after 1pm. So 5 hr trip and could not be better. Can thoroughly recommend.
Everything about this half day tour with Ishmail and our hiking guide was perfectly suited to our wanting to experience Moroccan sites, people, and culture. Visiting the women’s cooperative was eye-opening, and the hike up to the waterfalls in the Atlas mountains was the perfect outdoor experience for my daughter and I. The views were spectacular, and have us wanting to return to do more. When trying to fit many activities into a four day visit to Marrakesh, this half day Atlas Mountain trip was perfect!
Abdul took us on a day tour to the Atlas Mountains. Enroute we visited a women’s co-operative for breakfast, a coffee stop by a mountain stream, had a short guided walk through a village (with a local villager) and lunch with a local family with a stupendous view of the highest mountain. Abdul spoke superb English, was very knowledgeable and we had well informed chats with him about the Moroccan culture, politics, religion and culture. Abdul also took a great interest in us and where we were from too. We shared the tour with a lovely polish family of four, who happen to now live in Brussels - so we had really interesting discussions and much humour. Abdul’s people carrier/van was immaculate and he is a very good driver. We too frequent stops to take in some amazing views and interesting sights. This tour comes highly recommended - in a word, excellent!
We had an amazing experience on the half day tour to The Atlas Mountains. Abdul was an amazing host, sharing some incredible knowledge of the area! We started the day with a lovely traditional breakfast at a local argon oil co-op, where we felt really welcome, and the food and tea were both delicious! After this we travelled to the Ourika Valley, where we were taken on a picturesque hike through the local village and up to the mountains. It wasn’t too strenuous! Our guide was also very kind and allowed us time to stop and take in the views. Overall this was an amazing experience, and our only regret was that we didn’t do the full day tour! Hopefully one day we can return.
Abdul is a brilliant guide. His English is fabulous, as is his knowledge of the area. He made us feel very welcome. We were well looked after at the women's cooperative. the food was really nice. The waterfalls are beautiful and it is nice to get out of the heat of Marakech into the cool mountain air. Our only regret is not booking a longer tour! ...We will be back for another tour with Abdul.
Brilliant trip, guides very informative and professional. Weather not brilliant, but we had snow and mountains looked beautiful. Thank you .
Our driver, Abdul was amazing, energetic, very knowledgeable and passionate about history, the land, and learning more about you and your country. Our walking guide, also named Abdul, was very knowledgeable, patient, and a great guide (he lives in the village)! We enjoyed our adventure immensely - thank you both for the hospitality!
It was a nice stint out of the Centre of Marrakesh. Was the 1st person to the Berber breakfast and walking up the Atlas Mountains up to the waterfalls so it was cool and quiet which suited me. Thanks to Anas who was a great guide!
We decided specifically for this tour because it started early and we were able to escape the flow of the other tourists. Our guide Mohammed No.1 collected us on time at the pick-up point. Our guide explained some important customs and customs of the country and people during the one-hour drive to the Berber people. He did it very smartly peppered with anecdotes and important information. Upon arrival at the Berber people, we enjoyed the local breakfast, with delicious tea and homemade bread as well as sweet spread. This was followed by a tour of the landscaped garden with more information about herbs and the production of argan oil. Then we drove to the second stop of the hike to the waterfall in the Atlas Mountains. The ascent went along a river over stick and stone. A little sportiness is required here. After about an hour we had reached our destination. Once you reach the top, you can rest on a terrace with a cool drink. After our descent we went back to Marakech. This tour is suitable for those who want to briefly escape the mainstream of Marakech.
