They pointed out the wrong date and left us waiting 1h30 until they put us on another excursion, then on the way back the bus broke down and we were almost 2h on the side of the highway until someone came to look for us, I know they are things that happen but it was not managed well and we were compensated in any way. The cruise itself very well and the guide very nice.

Vu is an excellent professional!! Everything is easy with her. He helped us with the organization of our trip to Halong Bay (Alisa cruise highly recommended), Sapa (Homestay Mama Mao highly recommended), Ninh Bihn and Cam Island as well as various transfers between the airport and the city. Once the initial doubts were overcome, Home Traveling gave us a visit to Halong Bay, taking into account everything we asked for. We maintained conservations through Gmail and then through WhatsApp. Have no doubts that Vu Puhong will organize the trip for you like the others. We sent him a small deposit and he came to the hotel to close the visit. It's a pity that we have only spent 2 nights in Hanoi, because there are one or two excursions to the South that are worth it. The serious lack of communication from the company starting with which terminal the cruise departs from. Until we arrived in Halong Bay we did not know there were 2 terminals which are 15 km’s apart. Luckily, we went to the correct terminal only because the GM of the hotel we were staying at phoned and checked for us. Others on our cruise weren’t as lucky. They had been dropped at the wrong terminal and arrived in a panicked state. Once at the terminal, which is crazy busy, there is no signage as to where to meet or check in. I had to use my translation app and ask at the info counter for the person to phone the company and talk to a representative as they had no idea. If you didn’t have a translation app you would be lost. The guide we had by the name of Violet was pleasant, informative and spoke very good English. She met with us and the other passengers once she had located them and explained we would be taken out to our boat on a smaller boat, which was fine. We had chosen an older wooden boat as we wanted authenticity, we are sailors and own an old timber boat, so thought this would be more fun than the newer steel boats. Unfortunately, there had been no maintenance done on this boat for a very long time, it was in a bad state. The upper deck and railings around the deck were falling apart from rot, and the outdoor wooden furniture was in desperate need of repair. Just because something is old, doesn’t mean it can’t be clean either. Our cabin was spacious with a very comfortable bed, however the bathroom let it down. There was no shower curtain around the bath, so showering without getting water all over the floor was a difficult exercise. We were put in an interconnecting room and the door between the 2 rooms would not shut as it had come off the hinges, so we had to stand our bags against the door to stop people in the other room entering. If I was alone, I would not have felt safe. We had booked a 2-night cruise and were not advised until after dinner on the first night that we would be moving to a different boat for our second night. We were told that we would not have to go back into port but would be taken by the tender to our next boat. We weren’t happy about having to move as day 2 was supposed to be our day to “relax” but we had no choice. We were asked to check out of our room by 9:30am, the boat then headed back to port so the other passengers could depart at 10:30. We were left sitting in the heat without an offer of water or anything to drink until 11:45 at which time I went below and asked a staff member what was happening as we had been told we would be moved at 11:15. With the tour guide gone, I think they had forgotten about us. We were then transported a couple of hundred metres to our next boat the “Garden Bay Legend”, which I have to say was a god send. As you can imagine, by this stage my partner and I were not in very good moods as half of our day had been wasted. Although this was another old wooden boat, it was in much better condition than the first. The food, staff and cabin were of a much higher standard. Had this been our boat for the 2 nights, I would be writing a much better review. The company needs to seriously upgrade their marketing and communication skills or like us, their clients are going to leave dissatisfied. Experiencing one of the 7 wonders of the world was great, I suggest you book with an alternative company or ask for the name of the boat you are assigned and research it.

We were a group of 4 friends to meet Vietnam later this year. Reviewing travel blogs, we found Holiday Travelling and Phuong, recommended in many of them. We haven't been disappointed. The cruise was amazing, staff was amazing... Tom our tour guide made the journey more fruitful & our coordinator Phuong is a very helpful person. She was always there when we needed her, not only during the time of cruise but till the very end of our Vietnam Journey!
