Uscirai da Doha per vedere la storia del Qatar nelle sue aree settentrionali, iniziando con una visita al porto di Al-Khor, un ex centro ricco per le industrie locali di perle e pesca. Continua ad essere un porto affollato pieno di pescatori al lavoro. La prossima fermata è ad Al Thakira è la tua prossima fermata, e questa bellissima distesa di verde naturale, piena di mangrovie e corsi d'acqua gloriosi. È un incantevole paradiso nel mezzo del deserto, quindi ti dirigi verso il forte Zubarah, che è uno storico forte militare che contiene numerosi manufatti e un sito di importanza nella cultura del Qatar.

Al Khor è una città costiera nel nord del Qatar, situata a 50 chilometri a nord della capitale, Doha. Considerata una delle città più grandi del Qatar. Al Khor ospita molti dipendenti dell'industria petrolifera grazie alla sua vicinanza ai giacimenti di petrolio e gas naturale del nord del Qatar e alla città industriale di Ras Laffan. È una delle sedi proposte per la Coppa del Mondo del Qatar 2022.
L'isola viola, conosciuta anche come isola di Al Khor, è un posto bellissimo ad Al Khor, a circa un'ora di auto da Doha. Si tratta di una piccola isola, collegata alla terraferma da uno stretto sentiero interrotto in diversi punti per consentire all'acqua di defluire verso la foresta di mangrovie.
Al zubara noto anche come Fort Zubara(h) è una storica fortezza militare del Qatar costruita sotto la supervisione dello sceicco Abdullah bin Jassim Al Thani nel 1938.
Al Jumail, un villaggio abbandonato di pescatori e perle a nord-est del Qatar, fondato nel 19° secolo e abitato fino al 20° secolo, prima del boom economico portato dall'industria del petrolio e del gas. Il nome del paese deriva dalla parola araba "jameel", che significa "bello"; un riferimento agli alberi che crescono nella zona tutto l'anno. Secondo Wikipedia, negli anni '20 dell'Ottocento, George Barnes Brucks fu incaricato di preparare la prima indagine britannica del Golfo Persico e in questa indagine documentò Al Jumail, chiamandolo "Yamale".

The tour was amazing. Al Khor, Purple Island, Zubara Fort and the Al Jumail abandoned village are beautiful places. Anees was an amazing tour guide. 5 stars.
Our group (4 people) was picked up from the hotel in the Landcruiser. We had a very young guide who drove us from one point to another. There were no explanations for the individual stages, so he was more rider than tour guide. Also the specified time per stop is not correct, that always includes the arrival. So from 45 min Al Khor stayed 5 minutes, in the fish market, one round, out and on. The Purple Island can be reached with a brisk sprint over the jetty in the planned 15 minutes stop, there, back, further. Fortunately, the Zubara Fort is equipped with many notice boards, so you can make yourself known. The tea or coffee mentioned in the itinerary was cancelled due to Ramadan. Overall, the tour is already very interesting, the contrast between Doha and the hinterland could not be greater.

Very awesome experience. Our host was very friendly and informative. He took us to the mangroves, Purple Island, an abandoned village, a fort and even went off road to show us these sculptures in the middle of the dessert. Very nice of him. Excellent experience.
Guide was very attentive, the tour eh long but he was super helpful in every detail. At the stops we had enough time to take care of everything.

We were never picked up, the driver's car had broken down. We were told he would be there 2 hours later, when we asked where he was, he wrote that he was on his way. After another 35 minutes of not hearing from him, we cancelled the trip, he never returned. Really bad service. Now we are anxiously waiting to see if Viator will refund our money.

Wonderful day! We learned so much about the history and culture of the area from our guide as he drove us to the sites. We visited the pearl diving village reconstruction on the way back. We finished the day at the Qatar history museum and walked to the market. If you only have a day to visit, this should be on your list!
