Visita Volcan Wines e il suo museo del vino, situato a Vothonas, Santorini, sulla strada per Kamari Beach. Questa affascinante azienda a conduzione familiare opera dal 1880. Mentre i moderni macchinari in acciaio inox hanno sostituito i tradizionali utensili in legno, i vini sono ancora prodotti in stile classico. La struttura ospita un imponente museo sotterraneo, situato a 8 metri sotto la superficie e lungo 300 metri. Mostra la storia del vino e la vita dei contadini di Santorini dal 1660 al 1950 attraverso mostre realistiche, animatronica e un tour audio automatizzato.

Il museo del vino si trova in una grotta naturale a otto metri sotto terra. È l’unico del suo genere in Grecia e ci sono voluti 21 anni alla famiglia Koutsoyannopoulos, produttori di vino di quarta generazione, per costruirlo. I visitatori del museo hanno l'opportunità di conoscere la storia del vino e la vita dei viticoltori a Santorini dagli anni 1660 attraverso un'audioguida automatica, disponibile in 14 lingue o una guida, disponibile in 22 lingue. Alla fine del tour, i vini prodotti nella cantina Koutsoyannopoulos sono disponibili per la degustazione nella sala degustazione della cantina.

Very nice visit followed by a tasting of excellent wines. An astonishingly dense museum; explanations about the unique viticulture techniques of Santorini. Our tasting guide, Angela, was lovely and shared many restaurant recommendations on the island with us.
The Cave museum is self guided with audio devices rather than a tour, which is why I gave it a 4 instead of 5. If you love antiques and winemakers history, this is an interesting walk through. Wine tasting after the tour was fun and interactive. A nice way to use 2 hours in Santorini.
At the end of April 2026, we didn't need to book. Coming from Fira, this is the road to the airport. The museum is about 2 km away. The KTEL bus can drop us off on request, if not too many people. Several tasting packages of good local wine, of choice. Very clean, well organized, fun and informative museum. Very welcoming and professional staff. It's worth a visit and we can ask for a taxi back...
This tour is a must do! The way the museum is layed out provides a visual lens of how wine production was made and the transition from primitive to modern production. The wine tasting was also a good touch to cap off the tour. Delicious!
This was very informative, the wine was good, but pretty short. You were also your own tour guide, with speaker. Could have been better, but not bad.
We did the self guided tour of the museum which gave us the opportunity to go at our own pace. The wine tasting was good. The only negative is that we weren’t sure when and how to be picked up once completed. I called the Viator company and they had someone come quite quickly which was nice.
Base price was €20 per person for entry, no discount for older Australians, didn’t go in. One good note, is that the local bus that runs between Fira and Kamera beach will drop you almost 100 m flat walk, cost for the additional stop is another €1.60 one way per person.
