If you’re looking for a unique way to experience Hoover Dam beyond simply stopping for photos, this tour is absolutely worth it! What really sets this tour apart is that you get to experience the dam from multiple perspectives. Walking across the top of Hoover Dam is impressive on its own, but going inside the power plant and then floating down the Colorado River at the base of the dam gives you an entirely new appreciation for its incredible engineering and history. Our guide, Calvin, was fantastic and truly made the experience even better. As fellow East Coasters, it was fun learning that he originally came from the East Coast as well. We happened to be the first pickup of the morning, so before heading to collect the rest of the group, Calvin offered to “take the long way” to the Las Vegas Strip. Since it was our first time visiting Las Vegas, this was such an unexpected and thoughtful gesture. He certainly didn’t have to do that, but he pointed out landmarks, shared recommendations for things to see and do during our trip, and gave us a wonderful introduction to the city before the tour had even officially begun. That small act of kindness really set the tone for the rest of the day. Throughout the tour, Calvin was knowledgeable, personable, and genuinely enthusiastic. He shared fascinating facts about Hoover Dam and the surrounding area, kept everyone engaged, and made sure no question went unanswered. The power plant portion of the tour is led by Hoover Dam staff rather than your Pink Jeep Tours guide. While our particular guide delivered the information in a more straightforward, monotone style, the tour itself was fascinating. Seeing the massive generators up close and learning how Hoover Dam produces electricity gave us an even greater appreciation for this incredible feat of engineering. Since this portion of the experience is operated separately, it isn’t a reflection of Pink Jeep Tours. Calvin continued to make the overall experience exceptional from beginning to end. The highlight of the day, however, was definitely the river float. Looking up at Hoover Dam from the Colorado River is a perspective that very few people get to experience, and it was absolutely breathtaking. The peaceful boat ride offered incredible photo opportunities and a completely different view than you can get from the top of the dam. We ended the trip with lunch provided from Capriotti’s Sandwich Shop. Calvin took us to a park with gazebo’s to eat in the shade. I had The Bobbie. It was like a thanksgiving dinner with stuffing, turkey, cranberry sauce, and mayo. Honestly, I wasn’t sure about this sandwich at first but ended up LOVING IT! The hotel we were staying at had this sandwich shop in their food court. I went back 3 times and each time I got The Bobbie! A few tips for future visitors: * Wear comfortable walking shoes, as there is a fair amount of walking. * Bring plenty of water, sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat, especially during the summer months. * Don’t forget your camera—you’ll want photos from every angle! ** If you’re visiting during the warmer months, consider wearing a bathing suit under your clothes. Depending on the schedule and river conditions, there may be time for a quick swim in the Colorado River with Hoover Dam as your backdrop—a pretty unforgettable experience! Overall, this was one of the most memorable experiences of our trip. If you’re already planning to visit Hoover Dam, I highly recommend choosing this tour instead of simply driving over it. Seeing the dam from the top, inside, and from the river below gives you a whole new appreciation for this remarkable feat of engineering. A special thank you to Calvin for making an already incredible experience even more enjoyable. His knowledge, kindness, and genuine enthusiasm made this one of the highlights of our Las Vegas vacation.
Excellent. Our guide John did a great job keeping us entertained and informed. What mightve been a bit of a commute from mid-Vegas was a fun conversation instead. Lots of great Vegas tips and stories and southwestern lore, as well as Hoover Dam facts. Highly recommend the Colorado River boating excursion too. J.
What a fantastic day from start to finish. Our tour guide, Don, is an example of someone who truly loves his job. He greeted us at the hotel and the adventure and education didn't stop until late in the day. My wife and I were lucky enough to be Don's only customers. Don regaled us with his extensive knowledge of the area, the construction of the Hoover Dam, and the Colorado river. Literally, no detail was left untouched. Ignore the fact that he does this almost every day. The repetitious nature of his job in no way diminishes his energy and enthusiasm. He stated that he was a long-haul truck driver in a previous life. He's much better suited to this job than being isolated in a truck. The sites were breathtaking and humbling. Don dropped us off at the meeting point for the river tour. Once again, my wife and I were lucky enough to be the only guests. A huge thank you to the business owner who could have canceled our tour and rescheduled us for a day when she could make some money. She instead decided to gift us with a private river tour with Paul. Paul was an awesome guide. He continued the education Don started earlier. My wife and I were sponges all day, absorbing every detail these two incredibly knowledgeable gentlemen tossed our way. I can with great confidence recommend this tour. You won't be disappointed.
Great trip and great guides where very informative and funny would rate trip as a great experience and a really enjoyable day out
Hoover Dam is a spectacular engineering feat everyone should visit! Tour takes care of convenient pickup, comfortable luxury travel van, snack, and bag lunch. Our tour guide, Mark, took great care of us and provided excellent commentary. It was cool to start at the top of bridge, tour the plant and then go to the river for a float trip offering an amazing view from the base of the dam. Thanks for all the coordination to make it happen!
The pick up at hotel worked out great. I liked the small bus with big windows. Driver should have gone on tour with us as the exit was rather confusing.
Don was an amazing guide. Excellent communication ahead of time with reminders and suggestions about hats and sunscreen. Knowledgeable about area and Dam. Confirmed lunch orders and gave options on when to add lunch into the schedule. Highly recommend seeing the Hoover Dam from above, inside the power plant, and from below while on the river.
This was a good way to see the dam. It was very convenient to have the hotel pickup and the guide knew a lot about the history of Las Vegas and the dam which made the ride go by fast.
If you're looking for a unique way to experience the Hoover Dam and the mighty Colorado River, the Hoover Dam float trip is an absolute must. It's peaceful, scenic, and surprisingly informative. You don’t need to be super outdoorsy — it’s more of a relaxing, slow-paced drift down the river rather than an adrenaline-pumping adventure.
Carol, our driver was awesome. She is an excellent narrator and very knowledgeable. It was an amazing experience. I would recommend Pink Jeep with 5 stars and will definitely book with them again.
