Where do I start, there were too many good things to describe. We booked a 3-day, 2-night tour to visit the Mursi, Karo, Hamar, Bana and Dassench tribes and it was truly unforgettable. From the start Babi stood out: he offered a very clear, well-thought itinerary (the first reason we chose him), and importantly straight, honest pricing (the second reason). No haggling tricks, no hidden fees, just straightforward communication. That alone made us feel confident booking him while we were chatting with several other agencies. Itinerary & guiding: The itinerary was extremely fruitful and Babi did his best to slot in local events to maximise our experience. He provided a local tribe guide for every visit, so at each stop you had both Babi and a tribe guide walking with you, which made introductions and cultural exchange rich and respectful. Babi himself is unbelievably knowledgeable about Ethiopia, Jinka and the tribes; he answered every question and was always ready to explain context and stories. Food & accommodation: Amazing, amazing, amazing. Our hotel in Turmi was near the main road but felt like an oasis, quiet, set in a lovely big ‘garden’, clean rooms with mosquito nets and A/C (very important!). Every meal was a highlight. Babi asked if we wanted authentic local tribe food, we said yes, and he made sure we tried as many local dishes and coffee as possible. Delicious and memorable. Price & honesty: Excellent value. Babi quoted a reasonable price up front with no hidden extras. That contrasted with other agencies that started high and tried to slowly lower the price to win the booking. Babi’s transparency and directness were refreshing, he wasn’t trying to squeeze money out of us, he just wanted a smooth, honest booking. Personal touch & care: Babi is responsible, responsive, caring, a true professional guide and now a friend. He looked after us throughout the tour and even helped after the tour when we had an issue. Sharing dinner and honey wine on our last night together was one of the tour’s warmest moments. We’d happily meet him again!
