We had a great time! It's a unique way to see Guangzhou, and our guide Sia couldn't have been better. She even got my 13-year old nephew interested in history :) It's good exercise but not too hard. I especially loved biking in the residential alleyways, stopping for fresh fruit, and riding along the river. It was a hot day, but we were in the shade a lot. The breeze from riding felt good. It's a long ride, but the epic nature of it is very satisfying and seems to fit very well with this huge city. I have visited Guangzhou several times before, but this is a new, lovely, easy, and very relatable experience. If you can ride a bike, try this tour!
Due to rain the other cyclists had cancelled but I was unaware as had arrived by plane only a few hours earlier. Sia happily agreed to show me around by bike or walking - so we cycled! Great to be near the river and see the modern and old communities. Would be perfect on a sunny day. The bike was not very responsive to turning as the handlebars are not welded to the upright wheel post and there is a lot of play. These are public bikes which are hired via an App. It can be very hair-raising riding on the roads with traffic very close to you - definitely an adventure!! Sia was very friendly with good English and helped me get a taxi to return to the hotel. A fun experience!!
Great experience with our well prepared guide Yu! The bikes are comfortable and well mantained. We cycled through small alleys, a market where she bought us fruits, pastries and pork belly. We visited an ancestral hall, a park and in the end we rode through the bank of the Pearl-river to the skyscrapers at the new town. Highly recommended!
We had a wonderful afternoon with Yu. We enjoyed experiencing Guangzhou and all the information shared by Yu. We can definitely recommend this tour! Thank you Yu!
Had an amazing tour with Sia to see some unusual parts and guangzhou way of life. A good 15km workout mostly flat so very manageable! Loved the market to see the locals and the park to watch the aunties and uncles!
We have done bike tours in more than 50 cities worldwide, so when we give this five stars, we mean it. Sia was a great guide — thorough, generous, funny — and she knows the backroads! Instead of reciting the features of the tour that you can see in the ads, here are a few things to know ahead of time. First, the cycling is easy. If it’s a small enough group, you use the bike share bikes, which are just fine. Second, the cycling is hard — but not because it is steep or difficult. It is complicated by electric motor scooters (what Sia calls e-bikes, but they are fully motorized, not pedaled). Many of them are delivery bikes ridden by folks for whom time is money. A few of the alleys get congested with these creatures, and it may test your maneuverability skills. We loved it, but it helps to be adept on a bike in a crowed situation. Third, and after the guide quality most important, the tour is very well designed. Unlike most city bike tours, it is not a loop, so you end up near the Canton Tower in the CBD. It is very easy to get to the subway or to a taxi from there, but don’t plan to leave things at the start to come back to. The stops of the tour were nicely varied: architecture, history, a large family shrine, Beijing Road, a terrific wet market, a lovely park, a promenade along the Pearl River. Rain threatened, but we never got wet — and if we had, it might have felt fine. But were I to do it again, I might bring a light jacket if rain is likely. Overall, this is a great introduction to Guangzhou and one we highly recommend — especially if you can ride with Sia.
We had a fantastic cycle tour of Guangzhou with Sia as our guide. Sia looked after us absolutely perfectly - she was fun and informative and elevated what would have been a great experience into an unforgettable one. Highly recommended - perfect way to see the old and new towns.
My cycling tour through Guangzhou today was absolutely amazing. From start to finish, it was one of the best and most enriching travel experiences I’ve ever had. My tour guide, Sia, was incredibly kind, knowledgeable, and impressively well-prepared. She brought along historical photos that allowed me to compare the city’s past with what it looks like today, which added so much depth to everything we saw. We cycled through small alleys and hidden corners that I would never have discovered as a regular tourist. I had the chance to ask all my questions and she answered all of them patiently. She showed me everyday local life and shared insights into customs, culture, and routines that you simply don’t see when visiting a city in the usual wa (she also gave me restaurant recommendations, which i greatly appreciated). I learned a lot, had a fantastic time, and would absolutely recommend this tour to anyone who wants to truly understand the city with its history, its culture, and its people. An unforgettable experience. 10/10!
There’s no better way to explore a city for the first time than by bicycle, in my opinion. You can really get around and take so much in. This time, I spent the afternoon with Yu, my friendly, knowledgeable tour guide and a Guangzhou local. We rode through the old town while she shared stories about its culture and history, stopped by a wet market to try exotic fruits and enjoyed delicious Cantonese desserts. In between we took a break at People’s park, chatted about this and that and connected with Cantonese people along the way. The tour ended at the shore of Pearl river opposite of Canton tower with a beautiful and luminous view of Guangzhou’s evening skyline. If you're someone who enjoys a laid-back, authentic experience which is mostly off the beaten path, I’d highly recommend this tour.
My husband and I greatly enjoyed this bicycling trip with our guide, Yu. We had fun meandering through old alleyways, soaking in the history of Guangzhou and tasting wonderful local snacks. Without a knowledgeable guide like Yu we probably wouldn't dare to negotiate the busy streets on a bike. This tour will definitely give you a one-of-a-kind perspectives of Guangzhou. We can highly recommend it.
