Il miracolo del cattolicesimo Coreano Benvenuti nella Cattedrale di Myeongdong. Costruita nel 1898 come prima chiesa gotica in mattoni della Corea, conserva una storia davvero miracolosa. A differenza della maggior parte delle nazioni, il cattolicesimo in Corea fu iniziato volontariamente da studiosi confuciani locali, non da missionari stranieri. Formarono la prima comunità di fede proprio su questa collina. Anche se di fronte a secoli di brutali persecuzioni, questa fede autoseminata ha dato alla luce 103 santi e 124 martiri beatificati. Sotto l'altare si trova la Cripta, che custodisce sette martiri del 1839. In verità, il loro sangue è diventato il fertilizzante della Chiesa Coreano. Nel 1984, Papa Giovanni Paolo II canonizzò qui i 103 santi, la prima volta nella storia del Vaticano che una canonizzazione avvenne fuori Roma. Dopo la commovente visita di Papa Francesco nel 2014, anche il Segretario di Stato Vaticano ha visitato la Cattedrale di Myeongdong nel 2017, consolidando questo terreno sacro come un faro globale di pace. Museo di Storia dell'Archidiocesi di Seoul Costruito nel 1890, questo edificio è celebrato come una delle più antiche strutture in mattoni in stile occidentale sopravvissute in Corea. La cripta della cattedrale di Myeongdong Si tratta di una sacra cappella sotterranea situata sotto l'altare maggiore. Fondata durante la costruzione della cattedrale nel 1898, funge da sito di pellegrinaggio profondamente venerato e fondamento spirituale del cattolicesimo Coreano. La cripta custodisce le sacre reliquie di martiri storici e santi che sacrificarono la loro vita durante le gravi persecuzioni anticattoliche della dinastia Joseon. Mary's Garden È un santuario all'aperto splendidamente paesaggistico e sereno situato proprio dietro la Cattedrale di Myeongdong. Circondato da una graziosa statua della Vergine Maria, questo tranquillo giardino offre un tranquillo rifugio per la preghiera, la meditazione e la riflessione, contrastando profondamente con le vivaci vie dello shopping del quartiere circostante Myeongdong. La Grotta di Maria ; La Grotta di Lourdes del Vescovo Paul Ro è un santuario sacro all'aperto situato all'interno dei tranquilli terreni della Cattedrale di Myeongdong. Modellata sul famoso sito delle apparizioni di Lourdes, in Francia, questa bellissima grotta di pietra è stata dedicata dal vescovo Paul Ro (Ro Ki-nam) – il primissimo vescovo cattolico Coreano – come luogo di profonda devozione, gratitudine e preghiera comunitaria.

Korean Catholicism is truly unique in the world. Koreans discovered and built their own faith through books, without any missionary's help. Over 100 years of persecution then created a faith deeply rooted in sacrifice and endurance. Finally, the Church stood at the center of Korea's democracy movement, fighting for justice alongside the people. I’m proud of myself for booking this tour.
