Itinerario

Ingresso incluso30 min

It was ok

I had hoped to learn about the history of Zurich. The guide was cheeky, misogynistic and mainly focused on anecdotes, stories that didn't seem plausible or his views on health insurance citizenship that didn't seem especially fact-based.

Fun and informative tour!!

The perfect way to get a great overview of Zurich, learn some history and fun facts, enjoy the breeze and scenery on the boat, and see the amazing view from up top of the cable car! Our guide Vasi (sp?) was so funny and kept the tour lively and engaging.

Tour was as advertised.

Tour was good. At our age, we found the tour was long with a lot of uphill walking, particularly since it was a very hot day in Zurich the day of our tour. This isn't intended to be a negative reflection on the quality of the tour at all. (We knew the length of the tour that we booked and nobody can control the weather). For us, at our age, we'll be more careful in the future to book something that better aligns with our situation.

Great tour if your bladder can tolerate it!

Note: Trip Advisor should indicate approx walking distance (3+ miles), in addition to the length of tour(s). Hard to discern when only length of tour is given. Greg was a very knowledgeable guide. Since temp was over 90o F he made sure we stopped in the shade when he spoke. He did not plan for any bathroom breaks, except at lunch, which was 2.5 hrs into the trip. This is a bit of a misstep, since the temp was so hot, requiring lots of water consumption and over 50% of the group were 60+ years old. Also, at the end of the ride, he left the group of us who were not doing the 2 hr extension, standing on the side of the road waiting for his directions back to our starting point. We waited for over 10 minutes while he was talking to folks on the bus who were continuing on; the 8 of us waiting finally departed. Too hot to be standing around! Greg missed out on his tips. He’s a good guide. He just needs direction on group management.

Risposta dell'operatore

We appreciate your feedback and are pleased that you recognized Greg’s knowledge and professionalism. That said, we’re still confused by some of the complaints. This is a 6-hour walking tour that combines a city walk, a ferry on lake Zurich, a cable car to Felsenegg, transportation, viewpoints, and several attractions. Booking such a tour and then complaining about walking is a bit like booking a boat cruise and complaining about water. We’re wondering what exactly you expected from a 6-hour walking tour. A smart traveler booking a tour literally called a WALKING TOUR generally assumes that it will involve… well, walking. Quite a bit of it. Not sipping Aperol Spritz in the shade every 30 minutes, taking scheduled naps, or enjoying a guided tour of Zurich’s public restrooms. Perhaps, based on your suggestions, the tour title should be updated to: “Zurich Walking Tour – 3+ Miles, 10k Steps, 90°F Heat, Uphill Sections, Elevated Heart Rate, Limited Toilet Stops, and an Active Day Exploring the city and its surroundings.” Not quite as catchy, but certainly more detailed. A few clarifications: First, our guides are experts in Zurich—not magicians carrying a wand capable of instantly building a toilet whenever nature calls. Second, whenever public facilities are available along the route, our guides regularly point them out and ask guests whether they would like to use them or prefer to continue until the scheduled lunch stop, where proper facilities are available. As Greg told us, he spent a significant part of the day accommodating repeated requests for slower pacing, additional stops, and extra breaks. While he is always happy to help every guest enjoy the experience, it is worth remembering that this is a group tour. Other participants book this excursion expecting an active itinerary and often have to adjust their own pace to ensure everyone can stay together. Because group size is limited and places are reserved on a first-booked, first-served basis, every participant (with bladder problems, with knees replacements, with asthma, with heart problems) occupies a spot that could otherwise have gone to another fit and enthusiast traveler. That is exactly why we encourage guests to carefully review the description before booking and honestly assess whether an active half-day walking tour is the right fit for them. As for your bladder, we sincerely hope it has fully recovered from its Zurich adventure. As for the 10-minute wait at the end (Greg assured us that were not more than 5), he was ensuring that guests continuing on the optional extension received the proper instructions they had paid for. We apologize if that brief delay felt excessive, but we suspect Zurich’s actual/unusual temperature may have contributed more to the frustration than the actual waiting time, even if your guide pointed another shady place to wait. In any case, we’re pleased you ultimately agreed that Greg is a good guide. We agree that too. And fortunately, thousands of guests who came prepared for an active walking tour seem to think so too.

Cannot be missed

Absolutely brilliant walking tour. Our guide was informative and funny, making it really easy to interact and ask questions. Starting in Old Town you get a trip up the hill in the Polybahn and a great view of the city. For lunch, we were guided to a point to buy our lunch that had variety and affordable options. After lunch, we had a river cruise to our next location, with buses up the hill to attend the cable cars. With the cable cars up the mountain, we got a beautiful view of Zurich and the lake, and got to experience a small hike in the Swiss mountains! Afterward going back down, an easy train ride back to the city completed the tour. This tour is absolutely bang for your buck and so impressive with the amount of public transport use and ease to move through the city. It was a reasonable amount of walking for the tour length, but with frequent stops and time to sit when on transport - members of our tour all kept up. A perfect tour to see not just the city but some of the surrounds too!
