Sarnath si trova ad una distanza di 10 km da Varanasi facilmente raggiungibile con qualsiasi mezzo di trasporto. Questo è uno dei siti buddisti più sacri al mondo, Sarnath è famoso come il luogo in cui Gautama Buddha pronunciò il suo primo sermone. Sarnath fu una rinomata scuola di apprendimento dal VI secolo a.C. al XII secolo d.C. Visita alle rovine, allo stupa, al tempio buddista e al museo. Nel museo si trova il pilastro Ashok con i suoi quattro leoni guardiani, usati come emblema nazionale dell'India indipendente. Il tempio buddista Mulagandhakuti Vihara a Sarnath è uno dei templi costruiti dalla Sri Lankan Mahabodhi Society nel 1931. È il luogo in cui il Signore Buddha aveva trascorso la sua prima stagione delle piogge. Le pareti di questo tempio hanno bellissimi affreschi raffiguranti la vita del Buddha. È il luogo più sacro per le persone di religione buddista poiché il Signore Buddha aveva raggiunto la sua illuminazione qui sotto l'albero. Dhamekh Stupa è il luogo in cui il Signore Buddha aveva tenuto la sua prima conversazione sul Dharma.

Such an amazing tour! The tour guide was informative, funny, and considerate (always choosing shade when it was 43 degrees outside). He was so easy to understand and told everything in a clear and memorable way. For me, it was really special to hear the story of Buddhism in the country it was founded - despite it being less observed in the country today.

Brilliant guided walk around Sarnath. Our guide was able to explain the complexity of Buddism, very clearly and succinctly, he was relaxed and humorous and made the walk seem like 5 minutes. He was very knowledgeable about the subject and happy to discuss any subject relating to Indian culture and beliefs. I would highly recommend the company.
