Durante l'occupazione, Le Meurice servì come quartier generale militare strategico Tedesco per la Grande Parigi. Rue de Rivoli era una delle location preferite per le sfilate. A questo punto, discutiamo dell'anno 1940 e di come i tedeschi saccheggiarono sistematicamente la Francia.
Al Ritz si riuniva tutta l'alta società parigina. Qui, scopriamo come il maresciallo Göring abbia saccheggiato mobili antichi e preso tutta l’acqua calda dell’hotel. Nel frattempo, Frank Meier, il barista segretamente ebreo, serviva inconsapevolmente come consegna morta. Piazza Louvois è un bellissimo e tranquillo luogo di riflessione nel cuore del 2° arrondissement, che rende omaggio ai tanti ebrei deportati durante la Rassegna Vel' d'Hiv e ricorda il ruolo del governo Francese, che ha deliberatamente scelto di includere i bambini. Grazie a un paio di donne della Resistenza, centinaia furono nascoste e salvate. Il ruolo delle donne nella Resistenza contribuì in modo significativo a garantire loro il diritto di voto nel 1944.
Nel vecchio municipio del II arrondissement, raccontano la storia di una resistenza ordinaria: Jacques Bidault, il sindaco, viene arrestato per aver fornito biglietti per le razioni ai giovani che si nascondono per evitare la STO, l'ultima terribile idea del III Reich per cercare di arginare l'avanzata degli alleati in Italia e dei russi sul fronte orientale.
Siamo di nuovo in Rue de Rivoli, dove finalmente è avvenuta la liberazione. Vedendo i loro occupanti sopraffatti dagli sbarchi in Normandia, i parigini scioperano. La polizia riprende la sede della polizia, poi il municipio. L'intera città è un campo di battaglia con barricate, e ne segue una lotta spietata per raggiungere l'alto comando Tedesco, che è trincerato in Rue de Rivoli.

I have always been interested in learning about the occupation so I jumped at the chance to learn more when in Paris. What truly made this tour worth the price was our guide, Margo. She was not only knowledgable but friendly and was more than willing to answer our history questions when walking between sites! 10/10!
The subject matter was very interesting for WWII history buffs and Margaux was an outstanding docent.
Margaux gave a great tour. I am a history teacher on holiday and loved seeing the locations and the history brought to life by Margaux. I totally recommend this tour. We were a small group and could interact and ask questions as we went along.
This was AMAZING!!! Our guide, Margaux, was very informative. We learned so much about the French living under the German occupation during WWII. She was very accommodating for our family of 3 kids ( ages 16, 14, and 11) and our two grandmas. The kids had a great time asking questions and later commenting on how much they had learned!

Terrific tour with Margaux who was able to capture the broad context of the war and occupation as well as the day to day reality and individual stories of courage and resistance.
Margaux is an amazing host, and so knowledgeable about WW2 in the invasion of Paris by the Nazis. It was truly a walk back in history as our tour led us on a walk through 1939 Paris and able to see the actual buildings were created, as well as original photos of the events.
