It was actually fun and very interesting. Our guide was very knowledgeable . He knew food history, New Orleans history and shared quick stories about his childhood as pertaining to food. The samples were delicious. My sister was full afterward, but it only made me want to eat a real portion. According to our guide, eat seafood before Friday so you don't have to fight the crowds of locals. MAMBO, NOLA COOKERY, OCEANA
This was a wonderful experience! Raffle is so enthusiastic and entertaining! I recommend everyone do this!
Pretty decent tour for the money. Our tour guy was very knowledgeable. He spent every single second providing the history and sometimes his own personal experience during the tour. We tasted 4 small separate food samples (Crawfish ettoufe chicken & sausage jambalaya, seafood, gumbo) consistent of rice, beans, crawfish type dishes (very filling) to fulfilled, your hunger.
Great experience to do and love the history about the food and learning about other restaurants history and walking around leaning new things about new orleans.
The tour guide we had was Donald and he only does one Tuesday tour! He was great! Turns out it us sponsored by the restraunts you go too. A little disappointing. The portion sizes were very small relatively speaking but over all a good time!
The ratio of talking to eating is quite high. We tried four classic dishes: jambalaya, seafood gumbo, crawfish etouffee, and red beans and rice. All very good. We got an extra 20-30 minutes of history on desserts but didn't try any. By that time it was muggy, we all had to pee, and we were ready to go. Don was great, friendly and knowledgeable, but a little less talking and a little more food would be ideal.
Raffle was absolutely amazing! I would take any tour if he is the tour guide. Best choice by far, it is obvious he loves this city and loves to share it's history.
The experience was a pleasant addition to a very busy schedule. Raffle did an amazing job and I would recommend this tour to anyone looking for a break from such an overwhelming town like new orleans.
This tour was worth every penny and then some. The true value is from the guide Raffle. He was amazing and a wealth of knowledge.
Dan, a lifelong native with an excellent choice of foods shared his history and found the best places to try favorites of the city. He was knowledgable and managed the tour easily despite some young adults traveling with their mothers making it clear that they wanted to be somewhere else. (They missed out)). We went back to one of the restaurants (probably two after this evening) because the food and recommendations were right on.
