This was, without question, one of the best walking tours I have ever experienced. What made it truly exceptional was our guide. His knowledge of York's history was remarkable, but even more impressive was his genuine passion for the city and its people. Rather than simply pointing out famous landmarks, he introduced us to the hidden side of York that most visitors would never discover on their own. One of the highlights was meeting local artisans and stepping into independent workshops and businesses tucked away along York's historic streets. Those personal introductions transformed the tour from sightseeing into a meaningful connection with the city. It felt authentic, intimate, and unlike any walking tour I've taken before. The pace was perfect, with plenty of opportunities to ask questions, take photos, and appreciate the incredible history woven into every street and building. I came away not only with a deeper understanding of York's fascinating past but also with a genuine appreciation for the people who continue its traditions today. If you're looking for a tour that goes far beyond the typical highlights, this is the one to book. It was informative, engaging, and thoughtfully curated from beginning to end. I left feeling like I had experienced the real York, and I cannot recommend this tour highly enough.
The guide Dave, is second to none. We’ve done numerous walking tours and this was one of the best. Dave’s knowledge was outstanding, he tailored the tour to the group. We saw parts of York that we wouldn’t have done without Dave as our guide.
What an amazing tour! Educational and funny! Extremely informative but always accessible. Me and my family enjoyed every second of it. We had the full tour and it covered so much. We got the history and how it has shaped modern York. The Host Dave was exceptional with his knowledge and passion. A must do if visiting York.

We loved this walking tour of York! Our tour guide David Haw was very knowledgeable and he took us all over downtown York. We saw areas we never would have found on our own! Such a charming city, full of history. I highly recommend this tour and if you can get David Haw, great! He’s a wonderful guide.
Dave has a great knowledge of the city and we learned a lot during our 2 hours tour. He is a fantastic guide, very helpful as well. The only downside was seeing the people who abuse these walking tours. They stay there for 2 hours and give 5 pounds for 2 people or there was even a girl who did not tip at all! Please show respect to the guides and if you are not willing to pay do not join these tours!
