We were so excited to do the tour after we saw the movie Perfect Days. Our guide was so knowledgable about the architects and architecture of the facilities. It was so fun to be on the back roads and parks without the busy Tokyo traffic. I felt very safe which was a surprise considering Tokyo is such a big and crowded city. It was a long day and the bikes aren’t electric. However we had no complaints from our teen children and totaled 26 miles of biking in about 7 hours.
The Tokyo Great Cycling Tour is the one experience in Tokyo I return to every single trip, without fail. At this point, it’s become a tradition: land in Tokyo, drop my bags, and book another ride — sometimes two or three in the same visit. It’s that good. What makes it special isn’t just the routes (which are always fun, scenic, and thoughtfully paced), but the people. The staff are incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and genuinely welcoming in a way that feels rare in group tours. They remember faces, they share stories, they point out details you’d never notice on your own, and they make even first‑timers feel like part of the group. One of my favorite memories was the day no one else showed up for the tour — instead of canceling, they created a personalized route just for me. It felt like riding around the city with a friend who happened to know every backstreet, viewpoint, and historical detail. And of course, the post‑ride beer with the group is the perfect ending: relaxed, social, and full of that “we just did something cool together” energy. If you want a tour that’s equal parts fun, informative, and genuinely human, this is it. I’ll keep coming back as long as they keep running it.
Absolutely amazing experience. Exploring Tokyo by bike has many advantages, especially if you have a great guide who can tell you everything about Tokyo. Thank you.
I had a great time on the tour. The guides were very good - knowledgeable and funny. I didn't have any difficulty understanding them. The bikes were in good condition and I liked the itinerary they they planned for us. There were 9 people on my tour which seemed like a good number and I felt very supported by the guides. The tour was about 6 hrs including the stops and tour of temples, shrines and parks. We got to experience the customary Japanese bento box for lunch in a park which was lovely. The guide went out of his way to accommodate my dietary restrictions. One of the people on my tour goes to Japan often and has been on this tour many times. I understand why he is a repeat customer and I would definitely go on the tour again if I'm able to return to Japan.
The highlight of our trip to Tokyo was our bike tour. After seeing Perfect Days, we wanted to visit the artistic restrooms featured in the film. Our guide Takashi introduced us to each restroom, but the tour was actually so much more than that. We biked 30 kilometers seeing quite a bit of Tokyo. We learned about the architects involved in the restroom project and saw some of their other projects. We visited shrines and a temple. Takashi carefully guided us through the Tokyo streets and it was truly a pleasure learning about Japan from him. He was a perfect guide, friendly, kind and happy to enlighten us in any way he could. We cannot recommend this tour enough.
This is our 4th time joining the Tokyo Great Bike Tour (our first tour was 10 years ago in 2016) - and every time we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The tour guides are all genuinely nice people and always made sure we are safe, explain the best about the sights and gave us the yummiest wagashi and lunch ! They are the OG of the Tokyo bike tour and we cannot recommend them high enough for you to have this unique experience of Tokyo - we will most certainly return and try all the other routes. Please continue your great work, Tokyo Great Tours, we understand there're always challenges running a small business but we hope you are always there whenever we visit Tokyo !
Spectacular tour. Yukko and Nick were very informative and enthusiastic. They made every effort to make our experience one of a kind. We were able to experience a very diverse cross-section of Tokyo. The binder of information helped explain the historical significance of each one of the stops. The included lunch was spectacular. The ride was very manageable and enjoyable. We would highly recommend this tour.
Many information, very good communication. Toshi is the best tourguide I ever had!
It was a relaxing and informative ride with Takashi n Ohsuke. We did Tour K. They looked after us very well and we felt comfortable and safe cycling in the back streets of Tokyo. Looking forward to doing a different route with them on our next visit. The highlight was visiting the Toyosu Market and interacting with the tuna wholesaler. We ended up buying some fresh raw tuna from him to eat back at Takashi's bike shop.
Some years ago during my first visit to Japan, I booked an all-day tour with Tokyo Great Cycling Tour. I had such a wonderful and memorable experience that I decided to book another tour for a different route on my recent return visit to Tokyo and was just as impressed as I was the first time around. Being able to attend sumo practice was an awesome experience. Our tour guide, Lily, was very knowledgeable and had a contagious enthusiasm for the sport as well as its athletes, history, and cultural significance. We also did some bike riding to a few key locations in town, which was a great memory in itself. I would highly recommend this experience to anyone who's fortunate to have the opportunity.
