Un tempo sede del potere e della monarchia scozzese, Stirling si trova alle porte delle Highlands. Si è detto nel corso della storia che chi detiene Stirling, detiene la Scozia e questo spiega la sua antica e ricca importanza storica. Situato sul retro delle splendide montagne Ochil la nostra corsa ci porterà alle gemme nascoste più lontane e meno conosciute che costellano questa parte della Forth Valley. Discuteremo di folklore antico, eroi locali, trionfi, tragedie, arte, sport, invenzione e scienza. Conoscerci meglio così come la città e il paese che ci circonda.

Itinerario
Ritornando verso la città su ottime nuove piste ciclabili raggiungeremo nuovamente il fiume Forth e lo attraverseremo utilizzando il meraviglioso ponte di pietra. Costruito sulla vista sospetta dell'originale Stirling Bridge non solo funge da attraversamento ma anche da monumento. William Wallace usò il ponte per sconfiggere una forza inglese molto più grande nel XIII secolo.
Proseguendo verso il campus dell’Università di Stirling potremo goderci, quello che spesso viene votato, il campus universitario più bello del Regno Unito. Con il dislivello posteriore dei Monti Ochil e il proprio lago, è facile capire perché. È un'oasi di natura da studiare ed è stata infatti la mia università per 4 anni.
Proseguiremo verso nord avvicinandoci alle montagne prima di salire sulla collina che ospita uno dei simboli più riconoscibili della Scozia. Il Wallace Monument è stato costruito in onore del più famoso guerriero scozzese. Vivremo le viste mozzafiato sulla Forth Valley e sulla città stessa di Stirling.
Inizieremo pedalando verso nord verso i Monti Ochil. Attraversando il fiume Forth saremo a breve all'abbazia di Cambuskenneth, un gioiello poco conosciuto sia di religione che delle guerre d'indipendenza scozzesi.
Cavalcheremo sul retro della falesia del castello fino a Kings Knot, i giardini ancora terrazzati dei reali di secoli fa. Da questo punto non solo avremo una vista incredibile del castello sulla sua roccia impenetrabile, ma anche a ovest fino alle alte cime dei Trossachs (in una giornata limpida!).
Prima di fare la nostra ripida salita nella Città Vecchia, ne approfitteremo per discutere di alcuni eroi scozzesi della battaglia e delle arti, fuori dal vecchio teatro di Stirling.

Il punto di riferimento più famoso di Stirling, è il castello. La sede del potere scozzese per secoli e probabilmente il castello più amato dagli scozzesi. Saliremo la strada acciottolata nella spianata e fino ai suoi imponenti cancelli. Dalla spianata avremo una vista ininterrotta sulle montagne, sulla Forth Valley e sulla città stessa. Uno spettacolo davvero incredibile. Avrete la possibilità di terminare il vostro tour qui, se desiderate visitare il castello.
Pedaleremo attraverso la città e torneremo alla modernità fermandoci alla stazione e al centro della città.

We thoroughly enjoyed Stuart's e-bike tour of Stirling. Stuart is a knowledgeable and entertaining guide and the e-bikes were easy to handle. Stirling is incredibly bicycle-friendly. This tour is a great way to visit all the main points of Stirling and learn about its history while following bicycle lanes and paths, some minor roads and quiet streets We would definitely recommend. Stuart is a wonderful guide - professional, knowledgeable, and passionate about sharing Scottish history. The bike ride was perfect - across the Stirling Bridge, through the university grounds, to the Wallace Monument and beyond. It was very safe route. The ebike was a good choice for me.
Stuart’s E-Bike tour in Stirling was incredible! We were worried about a 3 hour bike ride after a travel day, but we were so incredibly happy we booked. It was the perfect amount of time, perfect amount of locations visited, and Stuart’s knowledge and passion for Stirling and Scotland made it an incredible one of a kind experience. The biking was not challenging and we felt very safe the entire time, and my parents who are in their late 60s had no issues. Stuart took us to some of the most beautiful historical sites in Stirling, and we learned so much without being overwhelmed with information. We saw other groups walking, or on busses at the historical sites, and we kept saying how grateful we were that we were on the E-Bikes actually exploring the city, not just looking through the windows of a bus. We are looking forward to another tour with him in St. Andrews the next time we visit! Book it!! You will not regret it!
The instructor who led our tour was an incredibly sympathetic, cheerful and funny man. He knew a lot to tell and it was pleasant to listen to him. We liked to see a big stretch around the city (instead of all the obvious things within the city). We learned a lot about Scottish legends and history. There was room for questions and comments, we thought it was a super fun day!
Amazing tour would highly highly recommend!! Best way to spend a half day in Stirling and see way more than just the castle. Guide was wonderful and fun to spend our time with. e-bikes were amazing!! Do it!
We have lived north of the wall for just over a year so wanted to finally explore outside of the major cities! What a treat, easily the best way to see Stirling and discover it’s not just a castle. Stuart was a real local and a proud Scot…maybe the English were the baddies! Haha! Great experience, highly recommended.

Stuart was punctual & very informative. His communication skills are top notch. I'm older & had not been on a bike in "several" years. He was patient, helpful & personable. He made me feel like I was in good hands. This young man will go places. He is proud of his country & it shows. We visited all of the things I wanted to see, & more. I definitely recommend booking his services.
I will always suggest that a bike tour with a well trained guide is the best way to see a city with limited time. My guide was approachable, knowledgeable, and an all around good hang. He even gave me wonderful selection for lunch.
I’ve been on a few bike tours over the years and this one stood out, it was great to experience the sights of Stirling on an E-bike, Stuart (the tour guide) took us to all the main sights we wanted to see, including the Wallace monument and the castle, we found the tour extremely interesting and learnt a lot about the city which we didn’t know. A great way to see Stirling!
