The manager was very very rude, I cannot recommend this tour because when we arrived it was a bit drizzly and we were briefed by the guide I believe, that surfaces might be uneven. He recommended using the walking sticks provided, we tried to enter but didn't feel comfortable with the shoes we were wearing. The manager was very very rude, she came on the bus and told my wife and I we will not get a refund because she didn't see anything wrong with the conditions.
Great tour about 45 min from Reykjavik. Easy to follow directions for pickup. Lava Tunnel was very neat. Ground is uneven, and there are stairs. Walking sticks are provided if you desire.
Wonderful experience the Lava Tunnels were massive! Being there is way way way better than in pictures or Instagram. Out tour guide "Kevin" made it the best tour. So knowledgeable and conveyed the miracle of how a lava tinnel is made, 5,000 years and 8 months of continuous lava to form this one. We are privileged to be able to see it
Interesting walking through an actual lava tunnel. Short tour for those on limited time. Ground was a bit uneven but not strenuous and hiking poles provided for people with limited mobility issues.
It was fine. The guide was knowledgeable. Do i think it was the most exciting thing to do- no. You see a cave and they talk about lava. If you are interested in geology, it might be more interesting. Otherwise, it looks like any other cave to me. It wasn't bad, i just don't think it lived up to the hype. But most people on my tour loved it.
Easy pick up and transfer and the tunnel itself was terrific. It was crazy to be standing where lava flowed and see what the walls and ceiling look like because its different from a normal cave. Really knowledgeable guide (they are mostly qualified or studying so could get technical). Helpful to have toilets and drinks/snacks available too. We paired this the the Lava Show in Reykjavik.
The Lava Tunnel experience was fantastic. A seamless pickup and return. Our tunnel guide was engaging and humorous. Dress appropriately and make sure the your shoes can manoeuvre on slippery rocks. If you have balance issues bring walking pole(s). Highly recommend this tour.
Easy pick up and drop off from Reykjavík bus station and a comfortable transfer to the Lava cave. Wonderful experience inside the lava tunnel. Our guide was good and gave us plenty of information interspersed with some humour. It was our first time inside a lava cave and the creepy feeling, the damp uneven path, the brilliant colours on the walls, the intense darkness ( when the guide switched off all lights) with only the plop plop of water drops made it an awesome experience. Not to be missed.
Very neat experience and a perfect half day tour from Reykjavik. Definitely worth doing to see the unique underground lava formations.
Easy pickup and a pleasant not too long drive (about 45 minutes?) from Rekjavik. Our guide Larissa explained the geology as we made our way to the end of the cave, then gave us at least 45 minutes to explore and take our photos, which was just right. The walking is rocky, but not slippery. I enjoyed the challenge. The cave was so interesting and beautiful; my parter and I loved it. We are 70 years old. We work hiking shoes for a good grip.
