Great tour - nice day out of London - super tour guide and driver. I have forgotten the tour guide’s name - but she wa s super personable and helpful
I booked the guided day tour to The Cotswold from London with Anderson Tours to escape the city on a summers day, plus I had never been to that part of the UK so decided to go for it and be open to the country adventure! Mike, our experienced guide, was already at the Victoria 8.00am pick up waiting to go with myself as Jacob, our driver for the day, was early arriving in the luxury 20 seater mini-van ready to whisk us out of the city and into the fairytale world of The Cotswold, which he was also very excited about as he had never been there either! I was pleasantly surprised to be in a small group of 11 visiting from all different countries and not be on a massive coach for the tour. Mike explained that Anderson Tours always did The Cotswolds with a small group and mini van so we could access the narrow country lanes and see more of the area - I was very pleased! The mini van was very comfortable with on board A/C as Mike on the microphone told us London and English History on the way towards Oxford and our first service stop, before getting to The Cotswold. Before you know it, you're transported into a different age and into a Christmas Card scene of quaint, old-worldy cottages over rolling wolds and valleys of the Eastern Cotswolds. The tour included stopping off in Bibury to see the weaver cottages on Arlington Row, a walk around Rack Isle on the River Coln and weaving our way around the country lanes deeper into the Cotswolds to explore an authentic village the big buses can't get to - but our mini van with Jacob could! Lunch stop was in Burford, a charming market town on the River Windrush where you visit Jeremy Clarkson's pub 'The Farmers Dog' or eat at other local pubs, peruse the little giftshops (Three French Hens has everything!) or talk to the locals selling their sheep skins - the huge parish church is stunning to view and the village is also home to the daughter of a famous media tycoon too ... Jacob was always ready at the pick-up points with the van, not forgetting anyone! Our last stop was Stow-on-The-Wold another beautiful market town where the village sweet shop sells traditional handmade Cotswold ice cream and fudge, the local church holds the door with two trees growing around it from 'Lord of The Rings' and Mike recommended we go and explore the village's authentic antique shop, run by two friendly ladies who can gladly give you advice on your own antiques! A tour of The Cotswolds was a refereshing retreat and introduction to this special little pocket of the UK and very good value for money at £90.00 - I was quite sad our groups little summer country adventure came to an end. Best for families, solo travellers, couples or Londoners like me who wanted a country adventure. Thank you, Mike and Jacob for showing me The Cotswolds! - would recommend and would use Anderson Tours again for another tour!
I thought the timing of everything was great and the tour guide was fantastic. He was super informative and friendly.
We had an absolutely wonderful day exploring the beautiful Cotswolds with Anderson Tours. Our guide, Eva, and our driver, Antonio, made the entire experience enjoyable, seamless, and truly memorable. We visited the picturesque villages of Burford, Bibury, Bourton-on-the-Water, and Stow-on-the-Wall, each with its own unique charm and beauty. Throughout the day, Eva provided fascinating historical insights, local stories, and clear instructions before each stop, ensuring we made the most of every destination. Her passion, knowledge, and friendly personality made the tour both informative and engaging. A special thank you also goes to Antonio, who drove us safely and comfortably throughout the journey. His professionalism and smooth driving allowed us to relax and fully enjoy the spectacular countryside. One recommendation for improvement relates to the pickup and drop off location. I want to emphasize that the pickup timing itself was impeccable, prompt, and perfectly organized. However, in our case, the pickup point at Victoria bus stop did not feel like the most comfortable or welcoming place to wait. There were several homeless and intoxicated individuals in the area, it did not feel particularly safe, and there were no clean or comfortable places to sit while waiting. It would be wonderful if future pickups could be arranged at more pleasant locations nearby, such as cafés, hotels, or other clean and family-friendly meeting points where passengers can wait comfortably with family and friends before departure. Overall, this was an exceptional experience and one of the highlights of our visit to England. Thank you, Eva and Antonio, for your professionalism, kindness, and dedication to making our day so enjoyable. We will happily recommend Anderson Tours to anyone looking for a memorable and well-organized trip to the Cotswolds.
The tour was very enjoyable. The meeting location was not clear. When I booked the tour online, no choice was given for pick up. Since departure was early in the morning, we took a taxi to the meeting location, which was far from our hotel, when we could have been picked up much closer.
The trip itself was ok, but the tour guide Ales was not very engaging. On our way back he just decided to go at tge back and chat for at least 2 hours to the american couple at the back Did not communicate with others or let them know how long will it take to get to our destination back. Once we were about to reach earls court the driver had to call him on his announcent system to get his attentiion. Other then that the trip was very organised and throughly enjoyed it.
Very nice tour, the Cotswold are just so beautiful. Ales was very knowledgeable and made the tour pleasant and funny, he also guide us through the town while leaving us freedom. That was as great ! The driver (forgot his name) was great as well.
We had a fantastic day visiting Bibury, Burford and Stow-on-the-Wold, as well as enjoying a short walk through a beautiful, peaceful village away from the usual tourist crowds. Our guide, Mike, was friendly, engaging and very knowledgeable, and Bruce was an excellent driver. The whole trip was well organised and gave us a great mix of famous Cotswolds highlights and quieter countryside. Highly recommended!
Very nice time! And well informed guide with great stories shared. Saw a lot in the time we were gone.
This is a very comfortable way of visiting the Cotswold ! In an air conditioned bus with a friendly driver (Bruce) and a most intersting guide with a beautiful voice ( Mike). You get to see remote villages far from tourists and get a real feel of the place ! Plenty of time in the different stops to shop and explore.
