Il "Classico" Tour del Parco Nazionale

Questo viaggio inizia quando prendiamo la nostra sede a Gatlinburg, TN. Viaggiamo in furgoni confortevoli ed ecologici fino alla nostra prima tappa presso i resti di una località turistica ormai lontana che risale a più di 100 anni fa. Impareremo la storia del disboscamento negli Smokies, le vite dei primi pionieri degli Appalachi e la fondazione del parco nazionale. Da qui risaliremo le montagne su una delle strade più panoramiche del sud-est. Lungo la strada ci fermeremo in punti panoramici per foto, domande e interpretazione dell'area. Finalmente arriviamo a Newfound Gap e al confine di 5.000 piedi tra il Tennessee e la Carolina del Nord. Qui impareremo a conoscere l'Appalachian Trail, lungo 2.200 miglia, e il sito in cui il presidente Franklin Roosevelt ha dedicato la dedica del parco nel 1940.

Avremo l'opportunità di uscire ed esplorare uno dei fiumi più potenti del Parco Nazionale delle Great Smoky Mountains mentre impariamo la storia della fondazione del parco e come si intersecavano le vite di taglialegna, lavoratori del CCC, agricoltori pionieri e i primi visitatori ricreativi di montagna.
Newfound Gap Road è una delle strade più panoramiche del sud-est. Faremo il viaggio di 13 miglia fuori dalla Sugarlands Valley mentre impariamo a conoscere le persone, le piante, gli animali e la storia delle Great Smoky Mountains. Lungo la strada ci fermeremo in diversi punti panoramici per le foto delle montagne imponenti e delle valli scure e ombreggiate.
Nelle profondità delle montagne a un'altezza di oltre 5.000 piedi ci troveremo sul confine di stato mentre osserveremo la Sugarland Valley a nord e la Oconaluftee Valley a sud. Il famoso Appalachian Trail, lungo 2.200 miglia, passa attraverso questo punto vicino al palco di pietra dove il presidente Franklin Roosevelt ha dedicato la dedica del Great Smoky Mountain National Park.

We had an absolutely fantastic Smoky Mountains tour with our guide, Kindel. Her knowledge of the Smokies was incredible, and her genuine enthusiasm for the area made the whole experience so enjoyable. We learned so much about the mountains, wildlife, history and local area along the way. The vehicle was spotlessly clean, comfortable and perfect for exploring the mountains. Kindel was friendly, engaging and happy to answer all of our questions. This was genuinely one of the highlights of our entire Tennessee trip and we would highly recommend the tour — especially with Kindel as your guide!
Rick was our tour guide and he did a great job. He was not only knowledgeable but accommodating and had a great personality. He is from the area and had some interesting history. I highly recommend this tour.
