Atmosfera ed energia straordinarie, che trasformano la vita dei giovani della Cambogia, Phare Circus è più che divertimento. È un'impresa sociale che sostiene una scuola senza fini di lucro in cui i giovani cambogiani trasformano le loro vite.

L'intrattenimento serale più famoso e unico di Siem Reap. Più che un semplice circo, gli artisti Phare usano il teatro, la musica, la danza e le arti circensi moderne per raccontare storie cambogiane in modo univoco; storico, folk e moderno. I giovani artisti circensi ti stupiranno con la loro energia, emozione, entusiasmo e talento. Gli artisti Phare sono studenti e laureati del centro di formazione professionale Phare Ponleu Selpak (www.phareps.org) a Battambang. L'associazione è stata fondata nel 1994 da 9 giovani che tornano a casa da un campo profughi dopo il regime dei Khmer rossi. In quel periodo furono molto aiutati da un insegnante di arte che utilizzava lezioni di disegno come terapia e volevano condividere questa nuova abilità tra i giovani poveri, socialmente svantaggiati e in difficoltà di Battambang. Hanno fondato una scuola d'arte e scuole pubbliche seguite per offrire istruzione gratuita. Una scuola di musica e una scuola di teatro erano le prossime e infine, per i bambini che volevano di più, la scuola di circo. Oggi più di 1.200 alunni frequentano quotidianamente la scuola pubblica e 500 frequentano scuole alternative. Phare Ponleu Selpak ha anche ampi programmi di sensibilizzazione, cercando di aiutare con i problemi evidenziati nei propri racconti. Phare Il Circo cambogiano offre a questi studenti e laureati un posto dove affinare le loro abilità e un posto per guadagnare un salario dignitoso. Denaro che li toglierà dalla povertà e darà loro rispetto e libertà.

A wonderful show A fantastic human adventure We had a great evening Extraordinary acrobats
Don't waste your money. For $38.00 instead take your family home for a nice dinner for 4 people. The show is not a real circus. Horrible acrobats. Most of the short one hour show you see them crowning around. There is only one acrobat doing all the acts. So lame. This is for people who never seen real acrobats from China and Russia. Not entertaining at sll. Left disappointed. Don't go .waste of money.

This was the fastest hour of my life. The circus show was so entertaining that the time flew by. The entire thing was so well done including the welcome from the performers with drums, jugglers and cheering. The food available pre-show, and the entertainment before the show is top notch and the food is inexpensive. Every seat in the big top is a good one and the quality of the show is fantastic. The best part is that seeing the show supports the mission of this program which is to give skills to underprivileged youth in order for them to have a better quality of life. It is win-win and feel good all the way around.

Astounding! Heading in we just assumed that it was just another circus performance. But tonight’s performance blew our mind, from start to finish it was so captivating left us on edge most of the show, it was just incredibly breathtaking. It educated us on how much rice is part of the Cambodian culture, & how Cambodian people eat live & breathe rice & community. We’re truly thankful that we got to experience the show. It’s great to see that although born into difficult circumstances the circus provides access to people to learn about different art forms free of cost! A great initiative!
