We booked a 2 day card. Unfortunately neither digital card arrived by email, so we had to visit the helpful Tourist Information Centre to get paper copies. We visited the Zoo (using free bus travel with card), Castle (including free Funicular ride), Chocolarium, River cruise, Guided tour, and City Museum. Great value for money to see the best of a lovely city
Good value. However extremely poor information about what is included. Especially deficient in details about how to access tourist boats and included city tour. Perhaps if you buy the card at the tourist information center this information might be available. However, if you buy the card online or other sites, there is no information I’ve had to access the guided tours. The card is a very good value if you visit museums. However, if you plan to take a boat tour, guided city tour, or rent a bike, you’ll be sorely disappointed in trying to figure out how to accomplish these things.
Thank you for your feedback. We are glad you found the Ljubljana Card good value, especially for museum visits. For cards purchased online via www.visitljubljana.com, the confirmation email with the QR codes for the valid Ljubljana Card product also includes a link to the digital booklet with detailed instructions. We are sorry if this information was not easy to notice, and we will review how to make it more visible.
I tried using the Ljubljana tourist card, which I bought a week ago, today and it did not work at all. I tried to use it in the bus and the machine refused to scan the QR code for 2 minutes so I gave up and paid it myself. I went to the Tourist Center to ask them for help and why this happened but they said that this QR code was the card itself so it should work. Then I tried using it at the Ljubljana castle and it did not work again. Their machine refused to accept the QR code. Thankfully, the receptionist called someone for help and let me in. This repeated for the next 3 museums I went to today. I showed the QR code and the machine showed an X but the receptionists of all places let me in as I showed proof of payment and the correct date. When I went back to my accommodation, once again the bus refused to scan the QR code so I had to pay 1.50 euros again. The unlimited bus trips were then a lie and it was only due to the hospitality of the receptionists and my own diligence in having proof that I could go to the museums today. I even bought a 48 hour card and I do not know if I can do the same thing tomorrow as I did today... The card itself is definitely disappointing...
Thank you for your feedback, and we’re truly sorry to hear about your experience. The voucher purchased via Tiqets is not the Ljubljana Tourist Card itself and needs to be exchanged for a physical card at a Tourist Information Centre before use. We understand how this may not have been clear enough during your visit, which led to the inconvenience you experienced when trying to use the QR code. That said, our team at the Tourist Information Centre should have recognized the situation and assisted you more proactively. We sincerely apologize for this and are reinforcing our staff training to ensure clearer guidance and better support in the future. We genuinely appreciate you bringing this to our attention, as it helps us improve the experience for all visitors.
Excellent experience. Had no trouble activating the card in the city center tourist location. They already had an envelope with my name on it and all kinds of info. Did a lot in 2 days and saved quite a bit of money.
So nice to hear your experience was smooth from the start and that the envelope with your name made things easy. Sounds like you really made the most of your two days and the savings too. We’d love to see you back for more discoveries next time!
According to the Visit Ljubljana site, if buying the card online, a 10% discount applies. The price on the site does show a discount. However, when going through the purchase process, no discount appears to be applied. the card. The site indicates 44 euros but the price comes out at 49 euros (for 48 hours). Has anyone been able to obtain the discounted price?
Dear Patrick, Thank you for your feedback and for bringing this to our attention. We understand how confusing it must have been to see a discount mentioned but not applied during your purchase. It seems that the information you found was on a page that is part of our website archive and no longer reflects our current offers. The 10% online discount for the Ljubljana Card hasn’t been available since 2019, and we’re sorry this outdated info caused frustration. We truly hope you still enjoyed exploring Ljubljana and that the card helped you make the most of your visit. If you're able to share the link to the page where you saw the discount mentioned, we’d greatly appreciate it. We can be contacted at info@visitljubljana.si and it will help us update or remove the outdated content to prevent future confusion. Thanks again for your comment, and we hope to welcome you back to Ljubljana someday!
Bought a 48 hour card to use at weekend ( lots of attractions closed on Mondays). Card does not start till is activated so can be bought in advance from Tourist Information Centres etc. It saved us at least double what we paid, as we crammed many things in and used the opportunities for free travel on local buses and the electric tourist transport. We tried a range of places to go - some we may not have considered had it not been advertised in the deal. Sign posts for The Chocolate Museum would have been helpful as it is in quite an obsure location but worth pursuing.
Dear Ali, Thank you so much for your wonderful review and for choosing the Ljubljana Card! We're thrilled to hear you made the most of it and explored so many of the attractions and services it offers — including the handy free transport options. It's great that it also encouraged you to visit places you might not have considered otherwise! Thank you as well for your feedback about the Chocolate Museum. We completely agree — it’s a hidden gem and definitely worth the visit. Regarding the signage, we understand it can be a bit tricky to find. We're doing our best within the limits of local legislation, which regulates signage in the city center, but unfortunately, there are only limited ways we can address this. That said, we’ll continue working on providing clear directions through our maps and digital materials to help future visitors. We hope to welcome you back to Ljubljana again soon — there’s always more to discover!
As it says it’s a comprehensive card that allows you to be able to do so many activities within days without feeling the needs to book for something additionally unless needed. My partner and I did like it.
Thank you so much for your kind review and for sharing your experience with us! We’re delighted to hear that you and your partner found our Tourist Card to be so comprehensive and convenient, allowing you to enjoy many activities without the need for additional bookings. We truly appreciate your feedback and are glad that you had such a positive experience. We hope to welcome you back for more unforgettable moments in the future!
Would thoroughly recommend the Visit Ljubljana tourist card. Excellent value for money, with so many things included. The first thing we did was the historical walking tour; our guide was Urban, a truly charismatic individual, who made our tour (only 3 of us) really memorable. We spent 2 hours walking around the city, and learning loads about Slovenian culture and history; a perfect introduction! Lots of laughs along the way! We also visited the castle via the funicular ride, which was absolutely amazing in its Christmas glory, we spent a morning out at the zoo, which we thought was very well maintained (a couple of sad sights, particularly the bear), we used public transport a few times, did the Plecnik house (fantastic tour guide, Vide, and also really helpful receptionist; thank you both for helping us with bus information), several art galleries, and a river cruise! So much we didn’t get round to doing but the card can certainly be used to great value. A really special thanks again to Urban, who made our introduction to Slovenia really special. Thank you to all at Visit Ljubljana Tourist Information for looking after us when we arrived. A brilliant experience.
Dear visitor, Thank you for your fantastic review! We are thrilled to hear that you enjoyed our Tourist Card and had such a memorable time exploring our city. It’s wonderful to know that Urban, Vide, and the rest of our team played a part in making your introduction to Slovenian culture and history so special. We will be sure to pass your kind words along to them and let them know about your experience. We truly appreciate your recommendation and look forward to welcoming you back for more amazing experiences in the future.
Upon arrival day we went to TIC where we bought the 3days LJU card for 49 Euro/pp. The friendly and knowledgeable young lady at TIC activated the card just before we took the incl. City walking tour/90min, which was in fact kind of private tour because we, as couple, were the only participants 😉 City tour was very interesting, excellent guide (Ana Maria?), plenty of information and also hints about restaurants, shops etc (would have costed 17 Euro/pp). The funicular ride (both ways) & full entry to the castle are also incl. in the card advantages (would have costed 16 Euro/pp). National museum of Slovenia (history&nature) was very interesting, incl. with card, otherwise 12 Euro pp The panoramic boat ride was very enjoyable, included/otherwise 14 Euro/pp Urban electric tram incl.otherwise 10 pp, was however a disappointment. The only terrible incl.visit (otherwise 10 pp), was the zoo 😱, it was heartbreaking to witness the animal abuse! Poor elephant, bears etc LPP city public transport is also incl. in the LJU card whic is a good deal/bargain and to recommend 🌞 With the card you can enjoy hassle free vacation ... visits, and you save money! Ljubljana is a gem of a city, so much to enjoy and to discover 🏞🏰
Dear Soinic, Thank you for your detailed review of your experience with the 3-day Ljubljana Card in Ljubljana. It's great to hear that you found the card to be a valuable purchase and enjoyed many of the included activities. We're delighted that your city walking tour was so personal and informative. Our guides, like Anamarija, strive to provide engaging and insightful experiences, and it's wonderful that you found her tips on restaurants and shops useful. We're glad you enjoyed the funicular ride, the castle, and the National Museum of Slovenia. The panoramic boat ride sounds like a highlight as well! It's unfortunate to hear that the urban electric train was disappointing, and we're sorry to learn about your experience at the zoo. Your feedback on the conditions there is concerning and will be passed on to the relevant authorities. Public transport convenience is a significant part of the Ljubljana Card's appeal, and we're pleased it added to the ease of your visit. Thank you for recommending the Ljubljana Card and for sharing your positive impressions of Ljubljana. We hope to welcome you back to our beautiful city soon!
It was dificlut to activate I was at the visit Ljubljana centre and they can t activate the card. Is not working on bus, they charged me extra. I think the card is overpriced
Dear Florinc, I'm sorry to hear about the negative experience you had while using the Ljubljana Card. The card should activate with the first use, but it seems there was an issue when trying to activate the Ljubljana Card on the LPP bus. Our technical team is double-checking whether the issue has been fixed. Could you please let us know the date of your travel on the LPP bus so we can look into the extra charge? Feel free to reach out at info@visitljubljana.si. Once again, I apologize for your experience.
