Esteban was great. This tour was lovely because it added in history, while eating great food.
Nelly was great and knowledgeable, food was delicious, locations were beautiful! Only suggestion might be to allow for more choices at stops so families can share and have a bite of everything!
This is tough. If I could give it 2.5 stars I would. The good is that you get to visit small towns that surround Antigua and given the rise of ex pats, wealthier migrants, etc - a lot of Guatemalans you see in Antigua, can’t afford to live there/rent their place out and live in the surrounding areas - it’s an authentic experience that many don’t include into their trips. The guide was personable and had a lot of information to share. The bad - it’s severely overpriced for what you get (food, guide, driver) and unfortunately I wasn’t aware their street food cheese was made from unpasteurized milk. I had a pupusa with cheese. I learned it the very next day and developed food poisoning shortly after which meant I couldn’t enjoy any more food for the remainder of my trip (a week of a bland diet and drinking a lot of hidravida). I should have done my due diligence but I also think the guide should be aware that tourists purchase this experience and have the wherewithal to inform them ahead of time. If you decide to do it, just avoid getting anything with cheese on it!
We went to some great local places outside of Antigua. The food was delicious and Alejandro was a great guide. Highly recommend!
Absolutely amazing! Come with an empty stomach because you will leave stuffed! Alejandro was incredible and full of knowledge of the country and city!
I had an amazing experience on this evening street food tour. I was able to learn a lot about the popular street foods and drinks that Antigua had to offer. I was able see the different parts of Antigua (away from the central area) and where the locals hang out. I appreciated that the experience did not feel rushed in anyway. During the last stop, we stayed for maybe an hour or more to soak in the environment and atmosphere as we ate our foods. Hotel pick-up and drop-off were included.
We loved this experience! Again the only down side was we paid way over price using Viator verses booking in Antigua. I would recommend this but find it in Guatemala and not on this app
This was hands down the best experience of my entire trip to Guatemala. Our tour guide went above and beyond, taking us out of the typical tourist circuit and into her own neighborhood, and a few others, where we got to enjoy truly authentic street cuisine. This wasn’t a curated, watered-down version of local food. This was the real thing. What surprised me most was how much I learned along the way. Our guide was so knowledgeable and engaging that I walked away with more history and cultural insight than I did from a dedicated walking tour of Antigua. She clearly has a deep love for her city and it showed in every stop we made. And the food? That’s what I’ll be talking about for months. Every bite was memorable and I’m so glad I said yes to trying everything. My only regret is not having enough time to book a cooking class with this company — because if this tour is any indication, everything they offer is top tier. You can just tell they genuinely care about the experience they’re creating for visitors. Do not pass this up. Go hungry, stay curious, and try every single thing they put in front of you.
We had a wonderful time and ate great food! It was really nice exploring some nearby towns to get a true taste of local cuisine. Our tour guide Nelly was fantastic and made the experience unforgettable. She was super knowledgeable about the food and was even able to tell the group about some Guatemalan history. Highly recommend!
While we enjoyed the food, the tour itself was not as great as I expected. I have done food tours in other countries a few times, and the guide usually will spend a good amount of time telling us the history behind each dish, how it's made, etc. We didn't get that this time. The guide was very friendly but spent most of the time telling us stories about his personal life.
