Nel quartiere Baixa camminerai fino alla piazza più grande del Portogallo, Terreiro do Paco, modernamente conosciuta come Praca do Comercio. Qui ti verranno spiegate alcune situazioni molto importanti che hanno cambiato la storia del Portogallo.
Cammina fino al centro della Santa Inquisizione, Piazza Rossio. Colonna di Pedro IV Al centro di Piazza Rossio si trova la Colonna di Pedro IV del Portogallo, noto come "il re soldato". Alla base del pilastro ci sono quattro figure femminili che rappresentano le varie qualità del re: giustizia, saggezza, forza e moderazione. Il Teatro Nazionale D. Maria II fu fondato nel 1842, in sostituzione di "Estaus Palace", che fu sede dell'Inquisizione portoghese dalla metà del XV secolo.
Passando alla vista del massacro di Lisbona del 19 aprile 1506, imparerai cosa è successo e perché. Da questo giorno, e durante i prossimi 3, più di 3000 "nuovi cristiani" dove assassinati nelle strade venivano fermati solo dall'esercito reale reale. L'epicentro, essendo la chiesa di Sao Domingo.

Very comprehensible and enthusiastic tour by Paulo. Lots of insight on jewish history throughout the ages and its jewish influence in Portugal. We loved the tour and even stopped in a few shops along the way! We recommend it highly!
Paolo was so much more than just a guide. His knowledge of Lisbon, Its Jewish history, people, customs and landmarks, his passion for people, and especially, Jewish people, his newly discovered roots is likely unmatched or unmatchable. He led us and shared his stories and those of the Jewish people and places in Lisbon with incredible passion! We learned so much and cannot recommend Paolo highly enough. We would spend part or all of a day with him again and will definitely do so if/ when we come back to Lisbon. Do not miss this or any tour with Paolo!

Pablo was an amazing tour guide! His passion for Jewish history, combined with his love and passion for Portugal and Portuguese history, was contagious. I learned more than I ever thought I could in a few hours. The tour gave me a deep connection to and appreciation for Portugal. I would highly recommend this tour. It is important to see the Synagogue in Lisboa, but that was just the start. His walking tour around the city was extensive, comprehensive, and inspiring. It gave me a real love for the city, the country, and its long, long Jewish history.

My husband and I took the Lisboa tour with Paulo Levy Monday March 16. We can’t say enough nice things about our tour experience. Paulo is a wonderful ambassador for Lisboa. He is knowledgeable about history and current events. We requested more in depth information about the Jewish people in Lisboa, and we visited the Sinagoga Shaare Tikva which was built in 1902. A must see landmark. We walked a few hours through several neighborhoods immersing in everyday Lisboa life with Paulo’s verbal contributions enhancing our understanding. We look forward to sharing our new knowledge with friends and family to encourage them to visit Lisboa and enjoy Paulo Ley’s walking tour.
