We booked a private tour with Lucas and it was one of the highlights of our trip. He was so knowledgeable and personable and we just wished we could have him guide us through the rest of our trip. Don’t hesitate to book, it was worth every penny.
Fascinating tour, which really brought the past to life. Our guide was Thierry who was warm and considerate, and who had a wealth of detailed information to share. I was with my 16 year old son, and we both got a lot out of the day.
Really enjoyed the tour today with our knowledgeable guide Jean DiLasser. Saw the beaches and American Cemetery.
My wife and I booked the all day private tour with Antoine. He is a former teacher and incredible story teller. I booked directly with Overlord and they told me we could customize our day the morning of the tour. He picked us up in Arromanches and in 5 minutes we had a plan. Neither of us knew much about the role of the Paratroopers during the D Day landing so we decided to focus on that and the American contribution to the invasion. We spent over 10 hours together and it was the single best tour we have ever done. Antoine began the tour at a small bridge in the Utah sector and brought to life the story of the challenges faced by the American Paratroopers when they landed behind enemy lines. The day only got better as we tour the museums, churches, beaches etc. Listening to Taps at the American Military Cemetery was one of the most moving experiences of my life. Thanks Antoine for a day we will never forget. Our only regret is we did not have another day to do the British and French version.
We took the full day tour of Omaha and Utah beaches with Overlord Tours. Our tour guide, Louis B, was extremely knowledgeable and explained in depth the battle strategies. He spoke of the heroism and unbelievable acts of courage of the American soldiers. Walking on the American cemetery was an emotional experience - the cemetery is kept in pristine condition in a beautiful setting. Many monuments, plaques, beautiful tributes. There are USA flags flown all other the local town - very moving. Working with the Overlord support staff was a pleasure. I had many questions and they were answered promptly and professionally. Highly recommend booking your tour through Overlord Tours.
We thoroughly enjoyed the full day tour of Omaha and Utah beaches including the American Cemetery and other locations (related to paratrooper landings and battles). Remy was our guide and was a delight. He was very knowledgeable and clearly was devoted to telling the stories of D-Day to ensure they will be remembered forever. Highly recommend this tour and also suggest you request Remy by name.
We did 2 days of tours - Day 1 was to the American sites (Cemetery & Memorial, Omaha Beach, Utah Beach, many great bunkers, memorials, and other sites on the way). Day 2 was to the British and Canadian sites (Cemetery, Sword, Juno, and Gold beaches, plus other sites). Jean DiLasser was our guide both days and was amazing! He was able to accommodate all our asks and customize the days, while also adapt to the heat and children. He was so well informed and gave us the historical context we needed and additional insights we hadn’t learned from our own historical research. It was paced well, and my 15 yrs old wanted to mention how knowledgeable he was and resourceful in finding any others details we asked about. We really enjoyed our days and would highly recommend Jean and Overload to anyone looking for D-Day tours in Normandy.
Our guide Lucas was exceptional from start to finish, there was no question he could not answer. He bought so many of the sites alive with his detailed explanations. When I booked for my family I thought the tour a little expensive however it was worth every penny. Would highly recommend this full day tour and if you are lucky you might get Lucas.
I had an amazing solo 3 day experience with Steven as my guide. One day at the American beaches, one day at the British and Canadian beaches and one day in 101st area. Steven had incredible knowledge of of all those involved. Plus, the Overlord Tour group is the only group with access to the location where Major Winters took out the 4 guns.
There are group tours, there are private tours, and then there is the Overlord private tour in a class of its own. Our guide, Louie, was incredible. He spoke perfect English. He had an incredible depth and breadth of historical knowledge about the people and events on D Day. He was funny, smart, and made us feel like we were getting information and access that no one else was getting. He knew the local spot to grab lunch before the huge tour buses showed up. He knew the field where the 101st ambushed 60 German soldiers shelling Utah beach. He knew it all. We could not have been better taken care of.
