Ionut was our excellent driver and guide for this tour. Despite the rainy weather, he managed to give us a well-organized and enjoyable overview of this fascinating island, including waterfalls, a glacier, and volcanic rock formations. We made a nice stop for lunch at the black-sands beach, and the food there was wonderful. My wife and I cannot imagine a better guide than Ionut, and we give him our highest recommendation!
This was an incredible tour. Simon was our guide from EastWest tours and he is really quite a skilled guide. I was a little nervous to be in a bus for so many hours, but he talked the entire time and I mean that the best way possible. He gave us fascinating information about the history and the land and it was both helpful and entertaining. It made the many hours on the bus a lot more fun and tolerable. He took great care of all of us and made many stops so we could stretch our legs and get food and use the bathroom. He had helpful and insightful details about every stop and gave us incredible recommendations for the rest of our stay. I do not like black licorice, but I tried it due to his urging, and I loved it! This tour was so stunning and my photos are unreal gorgeous. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone.
Booked our tour with South Coast Summer Day Tours, because I wanted a small group, turned out to just being the two of us. Company messaged me to see if a small vehicle would be ok, I said fine with us. Antone our driver picked us up at the hotel at 8 right on time. He was very nice, asked if we needed to be back at a certain time for dinner reservations, which I thought was very considerate. He was very informative, and funny, we had a great day. Being just the two of us, it was perfect, and catered to our needs.A stop for coffee, bathroom break if needed, and lunch in Vik which was excellent. I had looked at a lot of tour companies, and I’m very happy I chose South Coast Summer Day Tours! Thank you Antone for a great day! Oh right he even gave us ponchos to wear to go behind waterfall!, much needed! We loved our trip to Iceland! And you were a part of it!
This was an excellent tour that me and my family really enjoyed. Special thank you to our guide who was not only very knowledgeable and taught us LOTS about Iceland, but he was also incredibly flexible with us with the time we spent at each spot, since there was no one else on the tour. We really appreciated him!! (I'm so sorry I don't remember his name but he was from Lithuania if that helps). We got safely and comfortably to each of the tour's destinations. The locations were actually not too crowded at all so we felt like we could really enjoy the beautiful nature and views. Every landscape and viewpoint we went to was so beautiful, we will remember our Iceland trip for a long time and a large part of this is thanks to Back to Iceland! :-)
This is such a great route, which we felt encapsulated the best of a lot of other tours we saw that hit some highlights along the South Coast of Iceland. Anton was a great driver and entertained us the entire drive. Highly recommend.
