We had Eddy as our guide he was incredible! Super efficient, very factual and an all round nice guy. Would highly recommend to a friend :)
Great trip, highly recommended! You will get seen a lot of the island on the drive as well.
Very nice tour to the skywalk and vineyard in the north of the island. The views from the open top were spectacular going across the island. The guide Andre was very friendly and explained lots of facts and pointed out points of interest throughout the trip. The wine tasting was nice but the vineyard views were wonderful.
On the morning of our trip the guide turned up nice and early. He was very polite and chatty, explaining what we would be doing throughout the day. After picking up another couple we headed straight out to our first destination with guide explaining things we could see as we went. The first stop was the sky walk. My wife was apprehensive at first stepping out onto the glass floor, but soon relaxed. Getting to this spot early was advantageous as the car park would fill up very quickly and the viewing platform would also get full quick. We then meandered up through the countryside of Madeira stopping several times to look at the views whilst all the time our guide informed us of different events that had happened to the landscape. also explaining that the road system until recently was very sparse. The wine tasting was very relaxed and informative. Overall very good.
Just want to warn everyone! This ended up being fun but they were an hour late picking us up and then this was a very rough ride in an older Defender with little shock absorption. Our Land Rover 110 was from the 1980s so they were not tested for modern crash safety standards and the transmission was in bad enough shape that the synchros in the transmission were in bad shape. If you’ve been in Madeira you know that the roads are very steep but these are steep and rough and driven quickly. If you’re afraid of heights there are definitely some roads that are narrow roads with steep drop offs on either side so this may not be the best idea. If you’re seated on the bench seats in the trunk it’s also going to be uncomfortable so sit in the middle row if you can, especially to help you hear the tour guide but especially for general comfort. No AC and one of the windows is broken and glued shut so it’s warm initially. The temperature dropped roughly 30 degrees during the ride up the mountain so please pack a sweater! Gorgeous views and awesome winery but the transportation is very rough.
Thank you for sharing your feedback. We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed the views and the winery visit. However, we would like to clarify a few points for future guests. Our vehicles are not from the 1980s; our fleet consists of Land Rover Defenders from the late 1990s and 2000s, all maintained in excellent condition. In addition to undergoing the mandatory annual inspections required by law, every vehicle is subject to a daily safety check before the start of each tour. These procedures are carried out in accordance with the standards of our SGS certification, ensuring that our vehicles meet strict safety and quality requirements. Regarding the route, our tours are designed as authentic 4x4 off-road experiences. To provide guests with the best possible experience of Madeira's countryside, we use secondary roads and mountain tracks that are naturally steeper and rougher than conventional roads. This is an essential part of the adventure and is clearly reflected in the nature of the tour. We would also like to clarify that all vehicle windows are fully operational. As for the temperature, weather conditions in Madeira's mountains can vary depending on altitude, which is why we always recommend bringing an extra layer of clothing. However, with all due respect, we prefer not to comment on the statement regarding a 30-degree temperature drop during the tour.
Loved everything about this experience! Our guide Luis was amazing, super fun, knowledgeable and you could tell he wanted us to have the best experience. The 4x4 jeep tour was a great way to see the island and ending at an amazingly beautiful winery with amazing wine was a great way to spend an afternoon! Highly recommend.
We had a wonderful tour of the winery And our driver/tour guide Gil was awesome
What an amazing time my besties and I had. The driver/ guide was truly wonderful giving us an experience we will never forget and very knowledgeable and passionate about the island. The wine tasting tour was very informative and enjoyable
Eddy was a gregarious host who provided an unforgettable eep tour experience. And the vineyard was located in a spectacular valley setting.
Great/convenient way to see some of the island & do wine tasting. Our guide/driver (Gil) was great, as were the others on the tour.
