That you cannot go to the "Millennium Cross" by cable car. Out of order. Guide speaks a hundred out
Our guide was very friendly, passionate and informative which made for a really enjoyable trip. It was a good length and the sights were obviously beautiful! The tour doesn’t go up to the millennium cross anymore as the chair lift isn’t it use but we still went up to a spot with panoramic views of Skopje
The guide Miha, was fantastic ! That much energy ! I really recomend this tour.
I asked several times before the tour if there would be vegetarian food, but I never received an answer. One day before the tour, we went to the booking office in person and it was confirmed to us there. Unfortunately, it was not possible to see the Millennium Cross because maintenance work was being carried out on the cable car. However, we were informed about this in advance. Before we left, we were offered a free coffee. The tour to Matka Canyon was very pleasant. Unfortunately, the tour guide talked almost non-stop in English and also told us a lot of things that had nothing to do with the actual tour. I thought it was very nice that he bought my son an ice cream. We then had the choice of whether we wanted to take a simple boat or a new, slightly more luxurious one. Our group decided unanimously to pay the small surcharge, and it was worth it. The seats were really very comfortable, the ride was pleasant, and the scenery was dreamlike. I had imagined the cave itself to be a bit larger. Unfortunately, it was only a very small part that you could visit. Most of it is probably underwater. Afterwards, we drove to the Church of St. Panteleimon and took a look at it. Everything was also explained to us in great detail here. The view from there over the city of Skopje was also impressive. We drove a bit higher up the mountain and had the announced brunch there at a rest area. There were croissants filled with cheese and olives, accompanied by wine or juice. It was very tasty, but I had imagined something different for a brunch. A lot more was told to us there about the history of (North) Macedonia. Before we drove back, we still had the opportunity to take some photos of the beautiful view.
Best guide ever! Explanations, sense of humor, landscape...all 10/10 I will repeat with them for sure!
The tour is definitely worth it. I don't know why they keep writing that there is a climb to the cross because the cable car has been out of service for a long time and will be for a long time to come. The boat trip in the canyon (which is actually an artificial lake from 1930) is very spectacular, while the caves in the end don't say much, even if it seems that under the internal lake there is a 240 m "hole". You can pay for the boat trip to the cave in euros (10€). The church of St. Panteleimon is also interesting because some 13th-century frescoes are truly spectacular. The final picnic in a equipped area in the woods is also nice. The guide is excellent. We leave at 9:30 and return to Skopje at about 3 on comfortable vans.
The tour requires a lot of driving time in the van. Bring snacks, as the brunch is a cheese bread bun and served at the end of the experience. Bring cash for the 'optional' tour inclusions (boat and church). The highlights of the tour are really these 'optional' activities that you pay for separately. If your goal is more so to have guided transport to the areas and not necessarily added experience from the tour, your expectations will be met. There is a lot of storytelling history given during the day.
Amazing Tour with the best tour guide Mika!! He was genuine, funny and very passionate about Skopje. Matka Canyon was beautiful, must see!! Boat to the cave was 17 euros for 2 people. Lovely to have brunch & wine included, book with Mika if you’re up for a laugh too!
Excellent guide, passionate about his city. Beautiful tours. Attention, the visit to the cross is closed for the coming months because the cable car is under construction.
Very beautiful day with our guide Mika, who is enthusiastic, passionate, in love with his country, and who takes care of his clients like his friends.
