Shemakha, città, Azerbaigian centro-orientale. Si trova a 122 km a ovest di Baku ed è una delle città più antiche della repubblica, risalente al VI secolo d.C., ma la città moderna non fu incorporata fino al 1824. Dal IX al XVI secolo, fu la residenza degli scià Shirvan. Gabala, che si trova a circa 225 km di distanza dalla capitale dell'Azerbaigian, è un luogo perfetto per il riposo e il turismo. La città di Shamakhi, capitale dell'antico stato di Shirvan, considerata una delle regioni culturalmente più ricche del nostro Paese. È giustamente dichiarato il centro della poesia e della viticoltura dell'Azerbaigian; la reputazione la precede e quindi le belle parole sulla bellezza di questa città si diffondono in tutto il mondo. Lì avrai la possibilità di visitare la Moschea Juma, la cui cornice grandiosa attira l'attenzione di chiunque. Sarai informato sulla storia dell'Islam in Azerbaigian, che aggiunge simbolismo al mix, considerando che la Moschea Juma è il tempio musulmano più antico di tutto il Caucaso. Riprendendo la strada, ci spostiamo lungo il passo montano Mugan, i paesaggi che ci seguono fino al nord-ovest dell'Azerbaigian.
Dopo una lunga giornata ricca di eventi, ci stabiliamo in mezzo al ricco verde di Ismailli per pranzare. Tutta l’atmosfera del luogo e il pasto di tre portate ricco di cibo tradizionale porteranno un’esperienza davvero maestosa che sarà ricordata dai turisti per molto tempo. Alla fine della nostra pausa, condivideremo anche il tè in tazze tradizionali azere chiamate armudu. Dopo questa ora di relax, raccogliendo le nostre forze riprenderemo una strada, entrando nella seconda ma comunque emozionante parte del nostro tour.
A Ismailly visiteremo Il ponte Zernava - un ponte sospeso panoramico che si estende su una profonda gola di montagna. Circondato da foreste e paesaggi spettacolari, offre splendide viste panoramiche ed è diventato un luogo popolare per i viaggiatori in cerca di natura, avventura e opportunità fotografiche uniche.
La cascata Yeddi Gozel (Sette bellezze) è una cascata panoramica a sette livelli situata vicino al villaggio di Vandam a Gabala, in Azerbaigian, circondata da montagne e foreste lussureggianti. È popolare per i suoi sentieri escursionistici rinfrescanti e ripidi ai livelli superiori, bancarelle di tè e un ambiente naturale panoramico, fotogenico e relativamente freddo
A questo punto raggiungiamo finalmente la magnifica città di Gabala, capitale del distretto di Gabala. La sua esistenza è intrecciata con la storia dell'Azerbaigian fin dai tempi antichi, risale all'Albania caucasica quando svolgeva il ruolo di capitale, ora trasformata in una grande stazione sciistica con uno degli hotel più famosi della regione "Tufandag" situato Là. I panorami di questi luoghi si possono ammirare dall'alto delle funivia, che si stendono sul territorio. Lì si trova il punto più alto della regione, la Montagna della Bella Addormentata, che si erge a oltre duemila metri sopra il livello dell'oceano.

Honestly, the tour was great, our guide Ms. Nazpari was very knowledgeable and introduced us to every place we visited in a wonderful way. The only negative things I can say are that we were a little uncomfortable in the car. I didn't have enough legroom. There was no seating arrangement. Although those making noise were warned at the beginning of the journey, later on, especially the children, started making a lot of noise and no one warned them, resulting in a lot of noise on the return trip.
It was an amazing experience, my friend and I specifically enjoyed the trip all thanks to our advisor Naz. She taught us a lot about Azerbaijan and its history , which made it even more sentimental visiting all those places that we’ve been to

Our trip to Shamakhi and Gabala was absolutely amazing and perfectly balanced between history, relaxation, and stunning nature. We started the day by visiting the Juma Mosque of Shamakhi, one of the oldest mosques in the Caucasus. It was a powerful and peaceful way to begin the journey. The architecture, history, and spiritual atmosphere make it a must-see stop that gives real meaning to the trip. After Shamakhi, we continued toward Gabala, and the scenery on the way was already breathtaking. The resort area was beautiful and well organized, offering a calm and relaxing environment surrounded by mountains and greenery. The visit to the lake was especially relaxing, with fresh air and panoramic views that are perfect for photos and quiet moments. The waterfall was another highlight — fresh, natural, and incredibly refreshing, making it one of the most memorable spots of the day. And a very important tip: don’t leave Gabala without buying baklava! The local shop that Naz recommends is absolutely worth it. Fresh, delicious, and authentic — easily some of the best baklava we tasted during the entire trip. Once again, Naz made the experience even more special with her kindness, positive energy, and cultural knowledge. She knows exactly where to go, when to go, and what to try, turning a simple trip into a truly rich cultural experience. I highly recommend the Shamakhi & Gabala trip to anyone visiting Azerbaijan — it’s a beautiful mix of history, nature, relaxation, and local flavors.
