Come locale, ho guidato la strada fino a Sete Cidades centinaia di volte e mi stupisce ancora. Nel momento in cui la caldera si apre, si vede la laguna più grande delle Azzorre, conosciuta anche come i laghi verdi e blu o gemelli, il villaggio proprio lì, l'intera scena coppata all'interno di un vulcano dormiente... nessuno nel furgone dice una parola, solo sguardi e sussulti. Quel momento è il motivo per cui ho costruito questo tour di Sete Cidades a São Miguel. Il nostro West Coast Tour va dove la maggior parte dei turisti raggiunge e non raggiunge mai, fermati a quattro punti panoramici tra cui Vista do Rei, dove l'hotel abbandonato, Monte Palace Hotel, si erge sopra le lagune verdi e blu, Boca do Inferno in cima al bordo del vulcano tra gli altri. Scendete nella caldera per un pranzo locale delle Azzorre, dove vanno gli abitanti del posto, e una passeggiata intorno alla laguna blu dopo, per lasciare che tutto quel cibo scenda senza intoppi. Piccolo gruppo, nessuna fretta, il proprio ritmo. Scopri le numerose lagune di Sete Cidades. Raggiungi punti panoramici elevati in cima alle pareti vulcaniche.

Itinerario
Inizia guidando fino alla parete della caldera attraverso una strada interna dell'isola, fermati da un belvedere per vedere sia le coste nord che sud e le vaste colline e formazioni vulcaniche lungo São Miguel.
Controllate i vecchi acquedotti in stile romano che venivano utilizzati per trasportare l'acqua dolce tra i villaggi occidentali dal XVI secolo, Ponta Delgada è stato alimentato anche attraverso questa infrastruttura fino all'inizio del XX secolo. Controllate il popolare Nine Windows Wall e il cancello, alcuni dicono, a Narnia!
Raggiunta una laguna appartata circondata da alberi, la Lagoa do Canário può essere contemplata solo da pochi punti di accesso. La vegetazione lussureggiante delle Criptomerie e l'alta umidità nell'aria, rende come se stessimo camminando in una foresta incantata.
Fate una facile passeggiata attraverso il parco naturale di Lagoa do Canario fino al belvedere di Boca do Inferno, dove si possono contemplare le valli formatesi intorno al vulcano Sete Cidades, le lagune Blu e Verde e il villaggio di Sete Cidades. Da un'altezza di circa 700 metri sul livello del mare c'è molto da apprezzare. (È richiesto un livello minimo di attitudine fisica a causa di una ripida salita al punto panoramico.)

Faremo una sosta in una fermata meno trafficata prima di raggiungere il punto panoramico molto popolato.
Scendete nella caldera, contemplando i cespugli lussureggianti di ortensie lungo il percorso, scoprite la laguna di Santiago dall'alto.

Faremo una breve passeggiata lungo la penisola che si erge attraverso la Laguna Blu, un bel momento tranquillo che darà impulso a un autentico collegamento con l'ecosistema locale. Osserva la fauna locale e la flora stagionale, ammira il cratere dal suo interno. Sarà anche un grande aiuto per la nostra digestione.
Una breve sosta intorno al villaggio di Sete Cidades per verificare l'architettura tipica regionale e lo stile di vita, e l'iconica chiesa neogotica (una delle due sull'isola). Nelle vicinanze troverete un negozio di souvenir/regali.
Raggiungi la cima di una scogliera sul punto più occidentale di São Miguel per apprezzare la vista di Mosteiros e dei suoi isolotti, scopri la storia dell'isola delle Azzorre scomparsa.
Scendi a Mosteiros, il villaggio più occidentale di São Miguel, per camminare sulla sua spiaggia con una prospettiva unica sugli isolotti. Ammira anche la sua vasta costa basaltica dove si possono trovare piscine naturali formate da colate di lava. (Il fondo del mare in questa spiaggia è abbondante di roccia, entrare in acqua comporta manovre rischiose, non consigliamo bagni qui.)
Mosteiros è uno dei luoghi di nuoto più insoliti dell'isola. Ammira una vasta costa magnifica di roccia basaltica, le colate laviche formarono questa zona centinaia di anni fa, con le mareggiate dell'oceano Atlantico, diversi fori spuntano dove si può andare a rinfrescarsi. La tua Guida saprà quali piscine sono accessibili. Qui si trovano anche piscine naturali ad ingresso libero, aperte sull'oceano o più chiuse, dove i locali che non sono amanti della sabbia vengono a godersi i loro bagni oceanici in modo senza problemi. Attenzione alle superfici rocciose! (È consentito un tuffo veloce purché si possa tornare asciutti al veicolo. Non forniamo asciugamani o cambio di vestiti). Le piscine di "Mosteiros" non fanno parte delle terme oceaniche di "Ferraria". A causa della dipendenza dell'acqua calda dalla bassa marea e dal cambiamento delle maree diverse ore, non possiamo assicurare tale esperienza.

Arriveremo su un furgone grigio con il nostro logo sulle fiancate. Si prega di notare che i pickup a Ribeira Grande verrà addebitato un costo aggiuntivo di 10 € alla fine di questo tour, per ogni prenotazione non a persona. Very beautiful excursion with varied landscapes. Our guide IVO accompanied us and gave us all the necessary information during the excursion while also leaving us moments to share on our own. He shared his knowledge of botany with us. He is very respectful of the environment and very attentive. He had brought us a typical cake and a nice cold bottle of water that we enjoyed ☺️. The tour guide was very informative and knew much about the area including the science of the rock formations as well as the botanical aspects of azores. I would definitely go on this tour so you can see all the sights of the azores and gain knowledge of the areas. The lunch was good and traditional to azores came with red wine and desert at end. My wife and I had a great time. The tour guide even gave us restaurants recommendations for when we were in punta delgada which was very helpful.

Ivo was an excellent guide with a wealth of knowledge as he is from the Azores. Any question was answered with passion that helped appreciate the island more. Throughout the Western tour, he safely drove us to each destination, took the best pictures at vantage points, and advocated for our group especially during the lunch buffet which had a lot of options. The dessert was delicious that varies from day to day. We had the flan and rice pudding. For those worried about bathroom use, public bathrooms were available throughout. The van promptly picked us up/dropped off from Hotel Verde Mar in Ribeira Grande. I highly recommend this tour because the locations can be very busy and made the vacation less stressful. We had our own car, but it made the beautiful views of the Azores more enjoyable. You get a chance to explore each area from 15-45 min. Feel free to pack for the beach/pools. I did a quick dip into the pools and just walked around the beach. We would try other tours if our time allowed. The fees are worth the experience. Definitely book with Wildscape Azores Tours!

This was our second tour with Ivo! Ivo was kind enough to reacheduke this tour because of the aeather conditions, to make sure that we we have the best experience! He shared a lot of information about the flora and the fauna of the osland, as well as history and other interesting facts! The viewpoints he took us to were great! The linch was included and there were a lot of pescaterian options for me. I got the impression that Ivo cares a lot about the tours and the participants, and I enjoyed the day with him! 😍
