L'inaugurazione del Museo archeologico di Varna e il suo ulteriore sviluppo sono strettamente collegati ai nomi dei due fratelli Herman e Karel Škorpil, cechi di origine, che vennero ad aiutare con l'educazione e la cultura della loro sorella nazione slava in seguito alla Liberazione della Bulgaria da lo scherzo turco. Nel 1894 si stabilirono definitivamente a Varna. Il 12 dicembre 1901, un gruppo di figure e insegnanti socialmente attivi istituì la società archeologica di Varna che per decenni è stata il potere motivante di base per l'interesse e lo studio della storia di Varna, della regione di Varna e della Bulgaria nord-orientale. L'inaugurazione di un museo archeologico fu un compito di primaria importanza per la Società. L'edificio fu originariamente costruito per essere un liceo femminile tra il 1892 e il 1898 su progetto del famoso architetto bulgaro Petko Momchilov. Lo stile architettonico è nuovo rinascimento. L'edificio comprende un'area seminterrata e due piani. Quasi forma un quadrato completo e comprende un ampio cortile interno. Alcune stanze e corridoi sono decorati con dipinti murali. Un corridoio continuo attraversa l'intero edificio e conduce alle sale espositive.

This museum is like everything in Bulgary, the content is interesting but the people are not ready for tourism. We arrived at the museum with children 1 hour before the closure. They didn't want to sold ticket for an hour. We explained that it was ok for us as we were with children. They accepted but asked us to be at the exist 10 minutes before the closure. After 15 minutes, some guardians asked already us to move to the exit. We finally did the full visit in 45 minutes after having be asked 5 times to move to the exit. Nothing ready for french people. No audio guide proposed as mentioned on the website. Ps. Don't visit yhe toilet...
This activity gave us the guides notes and an entry which made me buy it. Great value for money. Recommend to anyone on an individual trip. In my case it was with the business partners.
While in Varna we booked this activity which features an e-guide and entrance to the Archaeological museum. It's wonderful to have all the guides notes and to explore at your own pace. Real bargain with the entry.
This was a total rip off. I spent $11.50 for admission instead of a few lev. They gave me nothing & told me to read the English on the walls. You should be ashamed of yourselves for selling this

Small but interesting. Here is the oldest gold treasure in the world 4600BC. Very few English information.
