Il punto di partenza è di fronte al centro di informazioni turistiche della Bosnia collocato sulla principale strada pedonale, Ferhadija, appena accanto a "Sarajevo Meeting of Cultures".
La moschea di Gazi Husrev-Bey è stata costruita tra il 1530 e il 1531, secondo lo stile che si usava nell'antica Istanbul, ed è la sede principale della fondazione benefica di Gazy Husrev-Bey. La cupola della moschea è alta 23 m, il minareto 45 m. Oltre a essere la più grande moschea di valore storico della Bosnia ed Erzegovina, è anche la prima al mondo a essere stata illuminata con l'elettricità.
Il Morica Han (caravanserraglio) fu originariamente costruito nel 1551 e appartiene ai monumenti sovvenzionati dalla Gazi Husrev-Bey. Bruciato nel 1957, è stato restaurato tra il 1971 e il 1974. Con le sue 44 stanze, poteva ospitare fino a 300 persone e 70 cavalli. Il Morica Han è l'unico caravanserraglio rimasto a Sarajevo.
Nel centro della Piazza Bascarsia, troverai la Sebilj, una fontana in stile neo-ottomano fatta di legno e pietra. La Sebilj fu costruita da Mehmed Pasa Kukavica nel 1753, ma è stato riposizionata dall'architetto austriaco Alexander Wittek nel 1891. La zona intorno alla fontana Sebilj viene anche chiamata "Piazza dei piccioni".

Uno degli edifici più importanti del periodo austroungarico, completato nel 1896. Un celebre esempio di architettura neomoresca che trae ispirazione dalla produzione artistica islamica in Spagna e Nord Africa.
La Moschea dell'Imperatore è stata la prima moschea costruita a Sarajevo da Isa Bey.

Scopri il Bezistan (bazar al coperto), costruito nello stesso periodo della Taslihan, una locanda di pietra che fu distrutta al tempo della dominazione austroungarica.
La chiesa congregazionale di Santa Madre costruita in epoca ottomana è la più grande chiesa ortodossa di Sarajevo.
La cattedrale del Sacro Cuore di Gesù fu uno dei primi edifici in stile europeo di Sarajevo
L'antico tempio ebraico, conosciuto anche come sinagoga sefardita, è la prima sinagoga che è stata costruita a Sarajevo.
La scritta "Sarajevo Meeting of Cultures" si trova nel punto in cui l'Occidente incontra l'Oriente, un luogo in cui ci si può rendere conto dell'unicità della città.

Despite staffing issues with the organizer, an alternative guide was arranged who did an excellent job.
The tour was informative and we visited lots of interesting spots. I do wish the balance between historical facts/stories and current day recommendations for places to buy souvenirs, food, cotton, ice cream etc. was skewed a little bit more towards history, but that may just be a personal preference!
