Itinerario

An excellent way to see Kyoto lit up at night, learn its history, and avoid the daytime tourist traffic!
We had Hotaru for our guide for this tour. She was very insightful and spoke English very well. She was easy to understand as well as informative, and took many pictures for us. We enjoyed biking through the tour, and especially enjoyed Fushimi Inari Taisha (shrine with all the tori gates). She pointed out little details while we were there which made it engaging and interesting. We also enjoyed listening to the meanings behind various names/terms (especially since we don't know Japanese), and the history or stories behind various aspects of the sites we visited. Despite the tour saying it would not be an E-bike tour, we were lucky enough to be able to use them which made the hills around Gion so much more easier to bike up (there's a few - maybe 3 or 4, less than 30 seconds - steep uphill climbs). I wouldn't anticipate the use of them, but since my husband and I were the only ones to sign up for the tour when we went, I'm guessing they were able to spare them. Without an E-bike, the climb is still manageable, but I'd say you'd need to be at least moderate fitness level for that part; everything else was relatively easy (if you can ride a bike for at least 30 minutes, you can do most of the tour without any issues). The most challenging part of the bike ride were the crowds in narrow streets of Gion (which is beyond their control). But if you enjoy riding bikes and want to see a good amount of the East side of Kyoto in a short amount of time, I would recommend this tour. If you're hesitant about any hills, I'd reserve and then message them to see if it's possible to get an E-bike. There were frequent enough breaks for pictures and water, and a couple of bathroom break opportunities as well during out tour. It was most 5-10 minutes of biking, then a brief break to discuss something, before biking again for another 5-10 minutes. The longest bike spurt was the ride back, which was either flat or downhill. Pacing did not feel rushed, and we ended on time. We had plenty of opportunities to ask questions and Hotaru was able to answer anything we asked. I would love to do it again with my other family members some day.
This bicycle tour was really fun and a unique, insightful adventure through Kyoto that I would recommend to anyone looking for a unique lens to see Kyoto through. Our guide was Haruto and she was really awesome. Warm, friendly and funny. She had a lot of information about the landmarks we visited. She guided us through fun customs at the Fushimi Inari Shrine, made sure everyone was safe and comfortable with their bikes and took a lot of photos and videos for us. The highlight of the adventure was riding through the Geisha district in Gion, a surreal and beautiful experience with imagery we'll probably remember for life. The ride can be challenging as you will navigate through active pedestrian and car traffic, narrow paths, but Haruto always adjusted her pace and guided us through difficult obstacles. If you are debating whether this is worth the money, it absolutely is.
Thank you Jaime for a wonderful night exploring the sights of Kyoto. We learnt so much about Japanese culture, more than any other tour. The bikes were great to ride, comfortable seats and easy to handle. We were amazed at how quiet the roads were. This is an unmissable experience. We will be recommending to family and friends.
Exploring Kyoto at night with such a knowledgeable tour guide while riding a bicycle was the kind of experience I didn't know I needed. I would do this again 100% if had the opportunity. Jaime has been living for over 2 decades so he knows all the details and stories you are not gonna find with another tour guide. Recommended 100%
I had a wonderful night bike tour in Kyoto with the guide, Jaime. He was very friendly, knowledgeable, and shared interesting stories about the city. Riding through the quiet, lantern-lit streets and hidden spots that I would never have discovered alone. It was so peaceful and beautiful. The pace was comfortable, I felt safe and well taken care of the whole time. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to see a different and special side of Kyoto! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Super exciting bike trip through Kyoto at the late evening. Thank you Jamie. My wife Anna thought that it is scary to pedal on the streets. You showed that it was very easy to pedl in Kyoto for ex. in Gion alleys and with your knowledge it was an adventure to Kyoto history. We were both so glad after the trip. We hope you are ok. Best greetings for you. We highly recommend Jamies services to all.
Amazing to see Kyoto when at night, especially Gion area. We were able to cover lots of distances with a bike. Jaimie was very informative.
Jaime was an amazing guide, very knowledgeable, friendly with the locals, and spoke a lot of languages which was cool to hear. We learned a lot about the city and we were able to see a lot of what Kyoto had to offer in a short span of time. The night time vibes really help for the flow of getting around and exploring the city in a fun unique way. The bikes were fun and intuitive, we had lights which helped for traffic as well. Highly recommend, you'll have an amazing time!
Incredible experience! He was knowledgeable about every destination and even taught us quite a bit of Japanese. At the end he showed us to his favorite restaurant. The whole experience was worth every penny!
