Visiteremo il Mr. Sloth Coffee Shop e saliremo al secondo piano, dove gusterete un pasto cucinato in casa con tamales realizzati con antiche ricette coloniali, preparati con amore da una famiglia locale. Avrete anche la possibilità di assaggiare piatti unici come il ceviche di banana, il ceviche di Guanacastecan o il ceviche di pejibaye, autentici cibi preispanici. L'esperienza continua con un corso pratico di cucina, dove imparerete a preparare empanadas artigianali di cioccolato, il tutto gustando un caffè speciale preparato nelle tradizionali vandolas.

Great service. It is well organized. Just the right balance between informative, fun and open ended.
Guide was great. Please note other than tasting some fruit you do not get food until the very end. Many of us skipped lunch & were very hungry & not aware of this. At the end you get a tamale & something else that was small. As a surprise we got to press our own sweet empanada & eat it after it was cooked. Be aware tour ends in a different location but walking distance. I did this on a Saturday & the amount of people was overwhelming.
A great tour to get a feel for San José. I got to try some food that I wouldn't have otherwise and the guide was friendly and helpful.

Lots of walking involved (not a bad thing) with a good mix of local knowledge, culture and cuisine. Particularly liked the fruit tasting early on and the coffee and tamales at the end.

Lots of interesting information about Costa Rica. I’m not sure why we went to a church though. Overall a fun experience when visiting San Jose. Would be nice to try more samples.

Nice tour across San Jose markets and historic areas. Guides were really good. Fruits and ice cream at the market was delicious. Food at the end was very good. One suggestion would be to spread out the food a little bit more. I was disappointed there were no food samplings from the small sodas in the market. Went back and sampled some

To provide some context on the food layout: the small sodas inside the market are quite compact and best suited for solo travelers or couples, making it logistically impossible to host tour groups there without causing a bottleneck. This is why our tour is intentionally designed as an introductory guide. We introduce you to the local culinary scene and then treat you to authentic, home-cooked traditional meals at our private space that are usually only prepared in Costa Rican homes. This is a wonderful and insightful tour, and provides a great introduction to central San Jose. I was pleased to not only see the well-known Public Market, but also the nearby Mercado Borbón, an authentic market for the locals and a non-commercial (no souvenirs) experience. Our tour included sampling fruits and explanations about how Ticos prepare and eat them. t the Sloth Coffee House, we also were able to eat a traditional Costa Rican pork tamale and prepare our own sweet dessert. A great experience packed into just a few hours!
