Our family scheduled this whale watching and wildlife cruise hoping to see an actual whale. The check in process was easy and relaxed with a shady space to wait before we boarded the vessel. While aboard the cruise we viewed sea lions, a juvenile sperm whale, and two kinds of dolphins. Our captain was working with other tour operators and was able to find the wildlife with a combination of equipment and networking. We stopped for about 1/2 an hour to watch the whale surface several times, but at a perfect distance that was safe for us and the whale. Surprisingly, the highlight of the trip was running into a giant pod of dolphins, about 500 of them! At one point the boat was surrounded by dolphins breaching, diving, and jumping, including several families with babies and juveniles. We sat with this group for 30 to 40 minutes. The captain was a professional and worked to give us an incredible viewing opportunity and didn’t compete with the awesomeness of this natural wonder by overly narrating the experience. The vessel was quite comfortable and the ride smooth, with many optimal places to sit atop and aside the boat. To be able to use the nearby paid parking lot, be sure to arrive early.
Wonderful experience. Our guide was knowledgeable and excited to be there. We did not see any whales, but we saw so many dolphins. The crew explained how lucky we were to have this experience as they usually don't see so many bottlenose. Seating on the top was plentiful and comfy. My friend said the downstairs seating and snack bar were sleek and clean.
Such a great experience! The guides and naturists were amazing and had so much knowledge. We saw sea lions, TONS of dolphins, and 2 humpback whales! Even got to see one of them breach. Highly recommend! Definitely dress in layers. Obviously they can’t control nature so there’s always a chance you won’t see whales, but it was amazing that they went above and beyond to make it happen.
Very friendly people. They went the extra mile for us finding the whales extending the expected time a bit ensuring the trip was a success.
We had a great tour with WPWW on 7/18/26. Saw many dolphins, sea lions , and mother/calf pair of humpback whales, we even saw a breach! Very smooth ride, great passenger to space ratio, not overcrowded at all. Super friendly staff and knowledgeable guides. Drinks and motion sickness support available. Highly recommend.
My friend and I took this excursion and loved it so much we booked it again a day later. The captain (Quinn aka Capt Redbeard) and the Naturalist (Sophie?) along with the 2 dudes pouring drinks socializing and fixing folks who were nauseous were so charming thoughtful and fun— they made the trip. We saw a few different pods of dolphins and some sea lions and some terns all doing their thing. It was an educational and peaceful experience. The boat really does a beautiful job of providing a smooth ride. I would do this trip over and over.
Received a call from the company 1 hr Before. Outting was CANCELLED ! aaked for next day. Staff member who called was rude and uncaring. Promptly said No and hung up and Viator Was quick to HELP WITH PROCESSING REFUND.. PICK ANOTHER TOUR GROUP TOO MANY TO TAKE THE RISK WITH THIS ONE

Dress in layers like it recommends. Awesome tour! It was awesome getting to see the seals, sea lions and dolphins! What a great experience. Bummed we didn't see any whales but the dolphin pods were amazing! We will be back!
Bring a book while they try to find the whales but to me it not worth your money. you get bored quick. And if they give you a voucher if they don’t find anything. which sucks because it might be your last day in San Diego and may never come back. I think they should return your money because nothing was fun on this whale watching tour
