A circa 100 chilometri da Bucarest e a 44 chilometri da Ploiesti, la miniera di sale Slanic è una destinazione riconosciuta per le attività balneari e turistiche dal 1853, quando fu dichiarata destinazione turistica di interesse nazionale in Romania. Tra i superlativi della miniera di sale (soprattutto della Union Mine), la più importante meta turistica e sanitaria della località, c'è l'enorme volume di sale scavato, circa 2,9 milioni di metri cubi, che ha portato alla creazione di cavità dai volumi giganteschi , rispettivamente 14 ambienti trapezoidali per un totale di circa 80.000 mq. I 14 ambienti sotterranei hanno un'apertura di 10 metri al soffitto, una larghezza nella parte inferiore di 32 metri e un'altezza di 54 metri. La profondità della miniera di sale è di 208 metri. Le dimensioni impressionanti le hanno conferito il titolo di miniera di sale più grande d'Europa.

Abbiamo visitato la più grande miniera di sale a 2,5 ore di macchina (inclusa una sosta lungo il percorso per una pausa) arriviamo alla miniera di sale di Slanic Prahova e alla montagna di sale. La profondità massima della miniera è di 217 m, le sue camere trapezoidali misurano 55 m di altezza, la superficie totale della miniera è di circa 80.000 m2. L'altezza di una sala è di 70 metri e il circuito si snoda attorno all'enorme pilastro che sostiene la miniera. La Miniera Unirea è il risultato dello scavo di 2,9 milioni di m3 di giacimento di sale che ha creato cavità dai volumi giganteschi: 14 camere dal profilo trapezoidale. al suo interno è possibile visitare il lago salato e la cascata, che si può ammirare da un ponte di legno. varie mostre con attrezzature che servivano per lo sfruttamento della miniera di sale o per il salvataggio dei minatori. Highly recommend this visit to the Slănic Unirea Salt mine. Gabriel got us there and back safely and gave a good commentary about Bucharest as we were driving through and leaving the city. Unfortunately as I was sitting at the back of the minibus I couldn’t hear what he was saying a lot of the time especially while the bus was moving. The mine was huge and absolutely spectacular. Like nothing we’ve ever seen before. The journey time wasn’t too long either.
I really enjoyed visiting the salt mine. Perhaps what could have been missing was the option to have a guided tour, but to be honest I don't think it would be needed for this. Worth the money.
It is a very beautiful place easy to be reached. Temp of 12° C so a jacket is needed. Max tour inside approx of 40 min. The road inside the mines is a special experience. Bogdan was a careful guide moreover careful and experienced driver. Everything was according the mentioned program
Mine was amazing a little on the chilly side but that's to be expected, loads to do for the kids too, my husband and i really enjoyed it.
The caves were awesome and the transport to the location was comfortable. Sonia was an amazing tour guide!
I enjoyed the salt mine and would recommend it. It was a good experience with lots to see. Bring a jacket though.
The driver is on a schedule so you must be on time meeting outside by the taxis on the boulevard by Hotel Bucharest. They stop 15 minutes on the way there and also on the return (2 hour drive each way).They only play a short 2 minute video so you need to read about the mine when you get there. Bring a jacket it’s about 50 degrees inside you will get cold. There is a gift shop, interesting salt sculptures, tools that they used in the mine, a cafe, large children’s play area, and some games like ping pong, pool to play. It takes about 10 minutes to drive you down into the mine which is quite spectacular to see and is very large. You can do the tour in under 90 minutes which leaves you time to get back to the van for the return. There is also a cafe outside if you need a place afterwards. Very worthwhile to see it.
The mine is very beautiful and evocative, it is worth visiting. Unfortunately, the description of the excursion was not correct; it clearly indicated the presence of an "English-speaking guide," but at the beginning of the tour, we discover that there was no guide. It would have been more accurate to indicate "English-speaking driver."

No complains, we were picked up at the Grand Hotel Bucharest, brought to the mine and taken back to the same location in the city. The driver was stopping on the way so that we could get snacks and use the bathroom. Everything was great!
